As you prepare for finals, don't forget that if you have students with accommodations, you will need to provide DSP with the parameters of your final exams via the Faculty Accommodate Portal. Turnitin and AI Writing

Turnitin now has detection capabilities for AI writing, including writing that comes from ChatGPT. You will not have to do anything new for your Canvas assignments that already have Turnitin enabled.

Keep in mind that this technology is not perfect, and it is still important that you review these reports carefully and communicate thoughtfully with your students. Upon completion of each course, faculty are awarded a $200 stipend. Faculty are invited to participate in as many short courses as their interest and schedule allows. If you are interested in receiving a digital badge for completing multiple courses, consider signing up for the Teaching and Learning Online (TLO) Badge Program prior to completing a course. ePortfolio Information and Resources

DU has officially adopted Digication as our new ePortfolio platform! You can log-in to Digication now using your DU email address and password. Learn more in our new OTL blog post From DU Portfolio to Digication: How We Got Here.

IT has many resources to support you or your students with transferring content from DU Portfolio to Digication. Visit their IT Digication web page to learn more.

The OTL's Digication@DU web page also has many links, guides, and videos to help you get started. For technical questions, the Digication Help Desk has faculty help guides and student help guides. Ideas to Impact Spring 2023 Faculty Workshop

In Fall ‘22, Provost Clark held the first Ideas to Impact Faculty Workshop. The purpose of that workshop was to engage DU faculty in sparking the next generation of interdisciplinary, big ideas, creating attractive opportunities for investment, and engaging the DU community in the development of eight white papers.

Building on the momentum of the first workshop, please join us for the second Ideas to Impact Faculty Workshop on Wednesday, May 17th from 8:30 - noon in AAC 290. Participants will learn about the big ideas animating the white papers and have a chance to engage in conversation with the authors.

Food will be served throughout the morning. This event is in-person.

Global Accessibility Awareness Day

Join us either in-person or on Zoom for our upcoming Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) event at DU. As GAAD states, “The purpose of GAAD is to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access and inclusion, and the more than One Billion people with disabilities/impairments.” Come learn and talk together as we hear from a panel of DU community members about their stories and experiences. The 4D Symposium

The 4D Symposium is designed to bring together campus stakeholders - faculty, administrators, staff, and students - to learn more about the 4-Dimensional (4D) Experience and share progress and models around elevating this work. Throughout the day, the 4D team as well as a variety of faculty, staff, and student speakers will be presenting sessions on how they see 4D integrating with their experience at DU, as well as the ways they envision the future of 4D taking shape. We hope this event will inspire our community to support holistic learning and development experiences for our students through integrating the four dimensions of advancing intellectual growth, exploring character, promoting well-being, and pursuing careers and lives of purpose.

Restorative Practices in Classroom Dialogues

In alignment with OTL’s Inclusive Teaching Practices, we are happy to announce that the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (SRR) is partnering with OTL to host faculty workshops that intersect curriculum delivery, inclusive classroom development and navigation of difficult dialogue using restorative practices. These workshops will be co-hosted by staff at SRR and Kristen Noble and are meant to create spaces for faculty to explore different teaching strategies to engage in difficult conversations, mitigate and address harm occurring in the classroom, and prevent situations from escalating.

The next workshop is being offered on May 19th from 12:00-1:30pm. Lunch will be served! If you are unable to attend this in-person event but would like to attend a remote version, please register using the link below and note your preference in the box at the bottom right of the registration page! If there are enough interested participants, we will host a remote event.

Heart of Higher Education Online Retreat

Dr. Paul Michalec, Clinical Professor, University of Denver is inviting you to join Parker Palmer and friends for a remote conference-retreat taking place in June 2023, entitled The Heart of Higher Education 2023: Finding Our Place in Shifting Landscapes, June 14-16, 2023. There is also a hybrid in-person option, gathering in the Office of Teaching and Learning on the DU campus. This retreat-conference is for those higher education professionals (faculty, staff, and administrators) who are eager to foster ways to sustain and renew personal identity and professional integrity in the midst of the profound changes that impact our lives.
