Ohio School Safety and Security Grant (SSSG) Includes HVAC Improvements
There is new funding worth up to $15,000 that is available to any qualifying entity under the SSSG program to cover the cost of inspections, assessments, maintenance and improvements to HVAC systems as well as the purchase of other secondary devices to control the spread of airborne contaminants.
Preparing for New Efficiency Standards
Come January 1, 2023, the Department of Energy’s (DOE) new efficiency standards for split system air conditioners and split system heat pumps (HPs) are slated to go into effect. As part of the DOE’s ongoing plan to reduce the nation’s overall energy consumption, these new standards will require all split system air conditioners and heat pumps to meet new minimum energy efficiency standards.

Through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) public-private partnership, more than 900 businesses, state, and local governments, utilities, housing authorities, and other organizations pursue ambitious energy, waste, water, and/or greenhouse gas reduction goals and share their solutions. The resulting savings represent 155 million metric tons of carbon emissions, or roughly the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by 20 million homes in one year.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has revealed its 2022 ENERGY STAR “Top Cities” list, spotlighting the cities with the greatest number of ENERGY STAR certified commercial buildings in 2021.

Commercial buildings are responsible for 18% of the nation’s energy use and spend more than $190 billion per year on energy bills. ENERGY STAR certified buildings use an average of 35% less energy and are responsible for 35% less carbon dioxide emissions than typical buildings. Did your city make the list?
