MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

August 26, 2024

September is around the corner—it's next week! As the State begins to roll out its paid leave program, September 1 is an important date for employers to remember.

The Delaware LaborFirst portal opens and this is where employers can set up an account to enroll or request to use a private plan. If you find that you still have some questions about the new Delaware Paid Leave program—does my company qualify; what are the benefits of opting in; what types of paid leave are offered; etc.?—a recent episode of our Conversations with Kelly podcast provides many of these answers. Chris Counihan, director of the Division of Paid Leave at the Delaware Department of Labor, joined Kelly to delve into the details of the new program, which takes effect on January 1, 2026.

I highly recommend giving this 10-minute episode a listen. It's one of the most succinct explanations I've heard yet. Listen to the episode >
