Celebrate Halloween Safely this Year!
Halloween is an exciting time for many but activities like trick-or-treating can be high-risk for spreading COVID-19. But not to fear! We have some tips for celebrating safely this year.

We recommend that everyone celebrates safely this year by hosting activities with household members or outside with social distancing. People shouldn't participate in celebrations this year if they are sick or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. Read below for more tips and tricks.
LET TRICK-OR-TREATERS KNOW
Passing out candy can be a high risk situation if anyone in is sick, immunocompromised, or in COVID quarantine or isolation. Place a sign on your door or mailbox that tells trick-or-treaters you're closed for boos-ness. Or place a sign that lets trick-or-treaters know that ghouls are welcome this year and you have extra safety precautions in place for handing out candy. If you choose to pass out candy, wash your hands and pre-make individual bags of candy. Download the signs below.
STICK WITH LOW-RISK EVENTS
Traditional Halloween events, like large groups of trick-or-treaters, giving out candy from one container, multi-neighborhood visits, or indoor large parties are particularly scary this year as they can increase the risk of getting COVID-19. Keep it simple and stick with safer alternatives, like:

• Pumpkin carving at home
• Outdoor pumpkin carving contest with friends (and distance!)
• Outdoor candy scavenger hunt in the neighborhood
• Virtual costume contest
• Spooky movie night with your household
