Preparing for the COVID-19 Vaccine
HMAA continues to closely monitor developments regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. With Emergency Use Authorization of the Pfizer vaccine expected very soon and others to follow, vaccinations may begin in the U.S. next week.

The first FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccines will require two doses several weeks apart. The CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recently presented the expected phases of vaccine distribution, which Hawai`i has elected to follow. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
Access to Care during the Holidays 
The holiday season is often a busy time for urgent care centers and emergency rooms. Members can avoid some of the stress of seeking medical care by knowing which facility or service is right for their situation – whether a cough, sore throat, flu, prescription refill, allergic reaction, or broken bone. Following are a few general guidelines for HMAA members who need medical care and are unable to see their primary care physician. 

  • HMAA’s HiDoc® Telemedicine Service enables you to see a doctor online or by phone for non-emergent medical issues while at work, home, traveling, or any time seeing your regular doctor is not convenient. Consultations are available day or night at no out-of-pocket cost.
  • Urgent Care Facilities have doctors and nurses equipped to handle non-life-threatening situations typically found at your doctor’s office.
  • Emergency Rooms handle trauma and life-threatening situations. 
Active&Fit® Employer-Sponsored Program
Start the New Year getting active with our employer-sponsored Active&Fit® Program. Thousands of convenient online/digital workout videos are also available.
