Disaster Relief Assistance Grant

Is your church engaged in any long-term recovery efforts in Pulaski County following the March 31st tornado? You are eligible for FREE store credit at Ferncliff's Sharing the Goods warehouse!

Thanks to generous grant funding from the Arkansas Community Foundation, Ferncliff can provide up to $600 in store credit for items in our Sharing the Goods program - that's around $6,000 in true retail cost of products!

We have hand sanitizer, paper products, toilets, bathtubs, sinks and faucets, tile and flooring materials, stoves, home decor items, towel bars and rings, and much more.

Products obtained with this credit must be used to benefit your organization's intermediate and long-term recovery work in Pulaski County related to the spring 2023 tornado damage. By providing free products to aid individuals/businesses with rebuilding and recovery in Pulaski County, Sharing the Goods enables your organization to allot funds elsewhere to further your impact.

Presbytery of Arkansas

Youth Ministry Story:

Rev. Elizabeth Brinegar

What impact did youth ministry in the Presbytery of Arkansas have on you and your life?

"I remember joining the Presbyterian Church when I was in high school. It’s hard to be comfortable anywhere, especially in your own skin, when you are 16, but the church was a secure and comfortable place for me. I jumped into youth group, presbytery events, and A-Team as soon as I could and I have never looked back. Without this presbytery and the youth programs that fostered me, I wouldn’t be who I am today. The church is still a secure and comfortable place but now she pushes and challenges me in so many ways that I absolutely love and cherish. The Presbytery of Arkansas is my home."

- Rev. Elizabeth Brinegar

2024 Boundaries Training Dates

Every 36 months, each pastor, CRE, and church professional serving a congregation is required to take a boundaries training course. Our Synod provides free online training four times each year, but they only accept 75 people in a class, so register and save your spot today! Click here for their 2024 dates. This information can also be found on presbyark.org on the News & Events page.

One other option to satisfy this requirement is to take the online course with Safe Gatherings, but this will cost you $29.

Claim Your Resource Center Books

As the Presbytery grows our online Ministry Resources, we are downsizing our physical Resource Center and all of those books need to find good homes. Since I took all of these photos over a month ago, boxes full of resources have found new homes. Yay! But, as I continue to unpack books, new ones keep appearing on the shelves. So come take a look.

Whether you are a MWS, CRE, RE, or a worshipper in the pews, you are welcome to come by and take all of the books/resources you would like whether for your church or your personal book shelves. Contact Julie Price to find a time when someone will be at the office to let you come wander, but don't wait too long!

The Third-Thirty Curriculum

I recently watched a webinar that featured Chris Pomfret, an officer of POAMN, Presbyterian Older Adult Ministries Network. He has created a curriculum entitled The Third Thirty: A Candid, Spiritual Exploration of Realities and Challenges we face in the Years 60-90. The author said he "felt called to find a way (not “the” way) to age wisely, gracefully, spiritually and sensibly so that we leave a good legacy for those behind us."

Two Webinars on Loneliness

Dwight Lee Wolter, author of the newly-released The Gospel of Loneliness and pastor of the Congregational Church of Patchogue on Long Island, will lead two webinars that explore loneliness within ourselves and our congregations. They will also explore taking “Loneliness Field Trips” to museums, theaters, and restaurants. A template will be provided for listening to “The Loneliest Songs in the World” together and discussing their source and beauty. Though sometimes a serious matter, exploring loneliness, ironically, can also be creative and a lot of fun.

These webinars will enable clergy to meet a vital and relevant need of their congregations in a way that may also attract people outside the church to enter the church and engage with kindred spirits. It offers specific ways of embracing loneliness as a destigmatized, creative, enjoyable path to self-actualization, social outreach, and community-creating.
