A Message from the Pastor | |
|
Greetings, Members of the Presbyterian Church of St. Albans:
What a Sunday we had! The Presbyterian Women of our church had a celebration of women this church not seen in-person for the last two years! Their theme was “God is Always Faithful,” based on Deuteronomy 7:9. I am sure we are all glad for the faithfulness of God. It was God’s faithfulness that has sustained us for the past three years.
It was a joy for me, as I am sure it was for you, to hear the testimonies of the seven honorees. Each circle honoree related their testimony to the Biblical woman their circle is named for, and the Women at Large honorees chose a Biblical woman who inspired them. This speaks to all of us--it shows us how we can find strength in those who came before us. With God’s faithfulness we can find strength and encouragement to do the things we thought we could not do on our own. It is the faithfulness of God that allows us to move beyond our comfort zone and into the community to bring the Word of the Lord to those who are walking in the darkness. It should also remind us that, as this pandemic continues, it is the faithfulness of God that will get us through the dark days, the good days, and the in-between days. It is that faithfulness that will allow us to take down the brick walls that hide us from the vision beyond. It is that faithfulness which will provide strength to those who govern the church, as well as the congregation, to walk through this transition with hope and determination.
I thank the Lord for the Presbyterian Women, who have given us a complementary theme to use with the church's theme “Seeing the Vision Beyond the Walls” to have that faithfulness when we feel that nothing is moving as we hope.
Continue to pray for each other as we move forward!
In Christ,
Rev. Eric C Toodles
Interim Pastor

Thanks to Everyone who Attended the 3-day 59th Annual Women’s Day Celebration
As our theme said, God is indeed always faithful, and His faithfulness was evident as we kicked off the weekend with the “Praise Party” on Friday night. Saturday morning, Dr. Mickisha McKoy hosted a workshop on our theme and our sisters shared just how faithful our God has been in their lives and we were all enlightened, inspired and encouraged by the depth of the faithfulness of God. The weekend closed with our first in-person Women’s Day Worship experience in 2 years! The spirit of our Lord and Savior was present, and He moved through all who were in attendance.
A special thanks to the Combined Women’s Day Choir and drummer Steven Carthan, under the direction of Sister Anne Marie Hudley-Simmons and Dr. Felicia El-Amin.
It's not too late to send your $200.00 WD assessment to the church through the mail, or electronically through the online Vanco Mobile Faith Engagement App.

Youth Music Ministry Welcoming New Voices
| |
|
"Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly!" ~Psalm 149:1
Music is transformative. The evidence is on the faces of the Angels of Harmony and the Ebony Voice Choirs each time they lift their voices in praise. They truly enjoy the experience. As they worship the Lord in song, the lyrics encourage and minister to them, drawing them nearer to God.
If you have a little songbird in your home, or know a young person who might be interested in learning to sing, rehearsals for the youth choirs have resumed. Contact information is below. Note, youth must be accompanied by an adult at rehearsals. COVID precautions are still in place, so pre-registration online is required.
