 Make A Connection
Joyful Annual
PW Retreat!
The annual Presbyterian Women’s Retreat was a fun-filled getaway weekend! Forty-plus lovely women attended this year's retreat led by the Reverend Anna Rainey Dickson. It was a weekend of fellowship, study, relaxation, and maybe a little shopping!  Please join us next year for this fabulous weekend in April.
Sparkle At Its Best
On Sunday, May 5, at the home of the Reverend Mary Margaret Porter, the Sparkle Party was in full swing! Circle #14 and Mary Margaret, with special consultants Katherine Raby, Mary Day, and Jean Cochrane, set up quite the party to support our FPC summer camps and BELLxcel. Thanks to everyone who helped along the way by donating your wonderful jewelry and accessories. It was most appreciated and especially by the children who will benefit this summer. We were able to raise
$1,318!

PW Birthday Dinner

Last month, the annual PW Birthday Dinner was all about our theme for next year-- "Make A Connection . " It began with our speaker Gail Henderson Belisito explaining how God has worked in her life and the many connections that led her to this point in her life's journey. We are so blessed that God led Gail to First Presbyterian Church. Thanks, Gail, for such an inspiring message! It was a wonderful evening of fellowship, enjoying a great speaker and meal. A highlight of the evening, as always, were the Honorary Life Memberships. See below for the exciting news.
Honorary Life Memberships

This year's honorees were special in so many ways. We honored a wonderful couple, Sue and Ross Loeser, and our very own PW Pastor Liaison, the Reverend Katherine Kerr.
The Loesers have served the church and community in so many ways and were honored for their quiet, committed, and demonstrated service for Christ in the Heart of Charlotte.
The Reverend Kerr has served the church as Pastor of Congregational Ministry & Care for more than a decade and also has served as Pastor Liaison for Presbyterian Women.
We honor these fabulous people in our church community!
CHANGE IS COMING THIS FALL!
Mark your calendars for the PW Fall Gathering and Luncheon, which will be held on Sunday after church at 12:15 p.m. We are hoping this will work well with everyone's schedules. Look for sign-ups soon.

MODERATOR'S MESSAGE

Long lazy days, lightning bugs, sunglasses, family vacations, fresh strawberries and sweet corn, beach reads, popsicles and linen...they all say "summer" to me. Although it has felt like summer for a while, it is officially here!
Along with many church activities, PW slows down for the summer. We are busy planning and organizing the programs for the 2019-20 year and I hope that you'll join us for Circles, study groups, interest-based classes, and community festivities beginning September 15th with the Fall Gathering.
We are trying something new this year with an after-church, Sunday lunch format, to make it easier for folks who work to join us for this traditionally lunchtime event. As always, childcare and transportation will be available. You'll hear much more about this event in the months to come, but put it on your calendar now!
Our theme for this PW year is Make a Connection! I hope you will take part in some aspect of Presbyterian Women at First Presbyterian Church. Come and bring a friend, or come and make a friend!

Happy Summer!
Sara Pressly
