Public Witness Grant for Camp Flourish
|
|
Public Witness Ministry Team
Thank you for awarding Camp Flourish with $20,000 for the summer of 2023. Funding from the Public Witness Ministry Team made it possible for Camp Flourish to continue to provide an excellent experience for 8 weeks for youth and families in the North St. Louis County area. To put that into perspective, your financial contribution helped Flourish create a space for youth to spend over 300 hours of their summer break with us in a safe, Christ-centered, nurturing, and educational summer program. The impact of knowledge learned during our camp will carry a positive footprint for years to come because it filled what would be idle time with new friendships, friendly competitions, bubbles, painting, slime, and much more!

Worship and the Arts with A Sanctified Art September 18-21, 2023
We are called to worship God with our whole, authentic selves, but our worship services don't always reflect all facets of our being. “Worship and the Arts” - a retreat led by Anna Strickland of A Sanctified Art – will encourage us to break out of our worship boxes with sessions that span from big-picture planning to the smallest details, from simple changes to big projects, from theological foundations to practical tips. Not only will we claim our creativity - our birthright as children of the Creator whose image we bear - and use these gifts to craft services that invite all people to worship God with their whole being, we will gather in the sanctuary of the Heartland Retreat Center outside Kansas City, Mo to laugh, to reflect, to pray, to eat, and to connect. Participants will leave with resources in hand to plan for the upcoming year.
Limited spots available.

Tips for Caring for God's Creation:
List of "to do's"
A recent Post Dispatch Letter to the Editor had a practical list of how to address the current climate crisis. Summarized, they are:
- Learn about how our planet is warming and the causes.
- Talk about it with friends, family, and fellow workers and students.
- Join a climate action group like Sierra Club.
- Contact elected officials and demand action.
- Reduce emissions in your everyday routine.
- Keep faith and hope that we all will do whatever is necessary to preserve life into the future!
"TIPS" is brought to you by the presbytery's Earth Care Work Group that monitors the ten Earth Care Congregations in the presbytery and advocates for Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and LGBTQ+ communities that are often hurt first and most by environmental degradation. Within this season is the SEASON OF CREATION, September 1 to St Francis’ Day, October 4, which calls us, as Christians, to love and protect Creation the way God does, to LET JUSTICE AND PEACE FLOW for Creation and all that is in it--which is this year’s theme.
