Presbyterian Church (U.S.A) Invitation To Submit A Grant Application
For The Decade To End Gun Violence
Since the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) adopted Gun Violence, Gospel Values: Mobilizing in Response to God’s Call in 2010, the epidemic of gun violence has continued unabated and, in fact, has intensified and worsened. The 225th General Assembly in 2022 declared that It is time for the PC(USA) to reaffirm and strengthen its commitment to be an active and prophetic leader in the national movement to end gun violence. To that end, the Assembly approved a limited fund as seed money for PC(USA) congregations, mid-councils, worshipping communities, and institutions to conduct events to combat gun violence. Grants of up to $1,000-$2,000 per event are available. The funds are held by the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program and grant applications will be reviewed by the “Decade to End Gun Violence Working Group, formed by the Presbyterian Mission Agency (PMA). Grants are available in both the 2023 and 2024 calendar years.

Is your congregation ready to encourage additional generosity before the end of the year? Are your leaders raising awareness of Donor Advised Funds, Qualified Charitable Distributions, and making gifts of securities? Over 25%, and by some accounts more than a third, of annual giving to charities takes place in December each year. Don’t miss out on opportunities to grow generosity in your congregation. On November 15, 2023, at 12 Noon Eastern Time (11 am Central), please join James W. (Jim) Murphy, CFRE of the Episcopal Church Foundation and Greg Rousos, President & CEO of the New Covenant Trust/Presbyterian Foundation, to review a variety of ways to encourage more giving to your community of faith during this most generous time of the year.

APCE Needs YOU
The Association of Partners in Christian Education is coming to St. Louis Union Station from January 24th through the 27th. Your Local Committee needs your help! We will need volunteers.

We also need assistance with providing supplies for participants. The QR code previously shared no longer works. Please, use this link instead to access the Amazon Wish List and watch for additions to the list in the next few months. Orders should be sent in the care of Rev. Pat Cleeland at Second Presbyterian Church, 4501 Westminster Pl., St. Louis, MO 63108. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your help!
