If it wasn't for the Midwives
|
|
"A desperately fearful leader, who is never given a name in this narrative, makes extreme choices in order to keep his perceived power, but the nervy midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, walked in their faith determined to make a way for God’s way."

Please pray for ... safety of all those who are participating in Halloween festivities

Please pray for ... peace, in our nation and abroad. That is a metered and calm response, rather than a vengeful response, in all our troubles.

Celebrating Jesse Swanigan
This month, at the national gathering of presbytery leaders and Stated Clerks for the Polity, Benefits, and Mission Conference held in downtown St Louis, the Synod of Mid America hosted a reception honoring our very own Ruling Elder Jesse Swanigan, who founded the Jesse C. Swanigan Scholars Program that provides executive training for mid council leaders for color across the PCUSA! Jesse was honored for his service to the Church of Jesus Christ and celebrated by the very leaders he helped to support into key positions of leadership (including the current Co-Moderator of the PCUSA, Rev. Shavon Starling-Louis!)
We celebrate you, Jesse!

Help ASG Help Councils and Congregations
A message from the Administrative Services Group
The Administrative Services Group (ASG) is creating a webpage with resources for congregations and councils to help them create or update their child/youth protection policies, which are required by the Book of Order (G-3.0106). ASG is looking for policies of PC(USA) congregations and councils to include on the webpage as samples. If your congregation is willing to allow ASG to post your child/youth protection policies to share with those who need to create or update their policy, please email them (or a link to them) to General Counsel Mike Kirk. Thank you for your support of this important project.

Is your congregation ready to encourage additional generosity before the end of the year? Are your leaders raising awareness of Donor Advised Funds, Qualified Charitable Distributions, and making gifts of securities? Over 25%, and by some accounts more than a third, of annual giving to charities takes place in December each year. Don’t miss out on opportunities to grow generosity in your congregation. On November 15, 2023, at 12 Noon Eastern Time (11 am Central), please join James W. (Jim) Murphy, CFRE of the Episcopal Church Foundation and Greg Rousos, President & CEO of the New Covenant Trust/Presbyterian Foundation, to review a variety of ways to encourage more giving to your community of faith during this most generous time of the year.
