News & Updates
Join us for a Season of Rebuilding - Virtual Town Hall
Thursday, August 31, 2023, 2-3:30 p.m. CT
The Benefits Plan of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) was created for a different church at a different time. The dues structure has not changed in nearly 40 years, while the denomination has not stopped changing. Declining church membership, shifting demographics, and rising healthcare costs have meant that fewer and fewer congregations can afford to enroll pastoral leadership in the plan. The goal of the season of rebuilding is to make the necessary changes to provide greater flexibility and cost control for congregations as they care for the well-being of their pastoral leaders.
The success of the season of rebuilding initiative relies on feedback from our community of faith. We look forward to hearing from you and sharing information on the initiative from the June meeting of our Board of Directors.
All Active Pastors Gather
Tuesday, September 5
Join us in welcoming Rev. David Loleng, of the Presbyterian Foundation to this month's All Pastor Zoom. The Presbyterian Foundation is establishing a national coaching network to help address the challenges faced by pastoral leaders. Therefore, the goal of this coaching program is to develop pastoral leaders who have a solid foundation in church financial literacy and appropriate skills in leadership and management so that their ministries flourish and their congregations create a culture that forms generous disciples who join in Christ’s mission in their neighborhoods, communities, and the world.
Second Presbyterian Church Sunday Forum Invites You to
The Season Of Creation: Let Justice And Peace Flow

The Sunday Forum Coordinating Team has been working to create a schedule of timely topics, and we hope you will be able to participate.  This fall season begins with a three-week series focusing on the SEASON OF CREATION. We are now in the church liturgical season of Ordinary Time which focuses on the church’s being called into the world to spread God’s love.  Within this season is the SEASON OF CREATION, September 1 to St Francis’ Day, October 4, which calls us, as Christians, to love and protect Creation the way God does, to LET JUSTICE AND PEACE FLOW for Creation and all that is in it--which is this year’s theme.
The Forum is pleased to announce that this series will be led by Dr. Clint McCann from Eden Seminary. An overview as well as the topics for each Sunday are listed below. The Forum meets at 9:00 AM in the Portrait Lounge.
This past summer, so much has occurred locally, nationally, and globally regarding the environment and the devastating effects human behavior has had on Earth and all that is in it. This series is timely in helping us to LET JUSTICE AND PEACE FLOW not only for us now but for our children and their great-grandchildren to the seventh generation.
We are looking forward to being together again to broaden and deepen our understanding of our calling to follow Jesus' Life Way of being Justice and Peacemakers on behalf of Earth and all that is in it.
We hope to see you there! For more information:  Ellie Stock, elliestock@aol.com
