News & Activities
Plan for an Earth Day Service in April
The Earth Care Team of the presbytery is urging congregations in the presbytery to plan for a way to celebrate the 51st anniversary of Earth Day in the U.S. which began on April 22, 1970. The best way would be to incorporate it into a service of worship, in person or virtual on either Sunday, April 18 or 25 by stressing caring for God's creation and Mother Earth through hymns, prayers, sermon, children's message, décor, or liturgy or some other way of your choosing. Resources are available by contacting Jessica Maudlin, Associate for Sustainable Living and Earth Care Concerns, the Hunger Program in Louisville. Contact her at [email protected].  Any questions, contact: [email protected].
Mound Ridge’s Annual Spring Dinner Auction
Sat., Apr. 10 | 1 pm to 4 pm
at The Venue At Maison Du Lac
Tickets are $65 per person

Brunch will be served along with a cash bar. You will have a chance to bid on live auction items, dessert auction, silent auctions, raffles, and door prizes. We will also have fun games like ring toss and pig races. This beautiful, spacious venue also has a deck that overlooks a lake, which you can enjoy.
Speaking of spacious.. this will be a socially distanced, safe event! The size of the facility is perfect for our event with plenty of room for guests at the tables. There would be six people to a table to ensure social distancing and sneeze guards at the buffet and drink lines. Masks are required when social distancing can’t take place.
The Venue At Maison Du Lac is located at 2603 Wild Plum Valley Road, Catawissa, MO 63069. Find complete details and purchase tickets by clicking here.

New Survey for Congregation
A message to share from Research Services
The Presbyterian Investment and Loan Program and the Presbyterian Foundation have some questions about your congregation’s interest in future loans, online giving, and stewardship.
You may want to engage your church’s financial administrator or another person who is familiar with the church’s budget and loans, if any, to answer this survey. The software estimates that it will take about 15 minutes to complete—less if these questions do not apply to your church.
If you have trouble accessing this survey, please contact us for assistance. This survey will close April 6, 2021. Thank you for completing it!

Online Matthew 25 Education Experience
Focusing on Housing
Wed., Mar. 24 | 2pm EDT (1pm CT)

As unprecedented energy continues to grow across the PC(USA) around the Matthew 25 invitation, so does your interest in additional resources and programming.
Toward that end, last year’s well-attended series of Matthew 25 programs will continue with our first online event for 2021, scheduled for Wednesday, March 24, at 2 p.m. EDT. The topic is how all three areas of the Matthew 25 focus intersect around the subject of housing. The program will include conversations with pastors on how their congregations are engaging with the issue of affordable housing in their communities. You can read more about it in a Presbyterian News Service story here.
To register in advance for this program, click on the link below:
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Watch for information on forthcoming Matthew 25 events scheduled for June 23 (Hunger/Eradicating Poverty/Congregational Vitality), September 29 (Education/Dismantling Racism/Eradicating Poverty), and November 17 (Migration/Immigration).
One of the best things about Matthew 25 is that we can do ministry together in ways we cannot do alone. The new and digital ways of doing ministry have also redefined what community means.
Coming Alive in Christ: Training for PC(USA) Ruling Elders and Deacons Based on the Constitutional Questions
The constitutional questions asked of leaders within the PC(USA) when they are ordained, installed, and commissioned is the focus of a new resource created to assist teaching elders as they serve in ministry with ruling elders and deacons. Coming Alive in Christ: Training for PC(USA) Ruling Elders and Deacons based on the Constitutional Questions provides a study of these beliefs that are central to our lives of faith and in our community with each other and is available through Equip, the church’s online training platform. Beginning with an introduction on baptism, call, and membership, the study for each question has been written by a leader from across the diversity of the church with questions for reflection or discussion included in each section. Leader guides and a visual supplement are also included and available for download.
The resource is a focus of the Year of Leader Formation, which provides an emphasis on the ecclesial development of Presbyterian leaders for those currently serving and those preparing to serve PC(USA) congregations as ruling elders and deacons. Events, announcements, and links are available and updated on the Year of Leader Formation webpage. To receive periodic email updates, subscribe here.
Synod Youth Workshop
July 12-17
The 2021 SYW Planning Team of youth and adults is once again energetically preparing for an in-person gathering at the University of Tulsa, July 12-17, 2021. It is through the Planning Team’s prayerful discernment that they invited Martin Osae to keynote the Theme: WhataGreatGod based on Romans 8:38-39 (‘…nothing will separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”) In this passage, they find assurance and hope that God is ALWAYS with us, and takes us far beyond fear to faith, hope and love. In fact, there is nothing which can interrupt God’s love for us…ALL of us. Learn more here
