Whitewater Presbyterian Church in Sedgewickville, Missouri was organized in 1832 by Reverend James Sadd. Thirteen people attended a meeting under a tree on the bank of Whitewater Creek. They were received by the Session, which consisted of Reverend Sadd and Alexander Boyd. Three additional people were received at an evening meeting, bringing the number of charter members to sixteen. The congregation initially met at members’ homes until a log house became available to use as a church building. It was also used as a school. Eventually, five acres of land were donated for a church and cemetery eight miles east of the church's original location. In 1842, a log church was built on the land. The current building was constructed from 1893-1896.
Whitewater Presbyterian Church is the oldest Presbyterian church west of the Mississippi River to have continuous church since it was organized. It was associated with Patton Presbyterian Church in Patton, Missouri, which had a manse serving both churches.

Tips for Caring for God's Amazing Creation
Participate in outdoor activities this summer (when safe) in a nearby park or camp.
Try to get outdoors to experience the earth in its natural state! Some congregations worship outdoors in the summer or picnic in a park or send their children off to Mound Ridge Camp. Use these opportunities to teach about the wonders of creation and the need to address the current climate crisis.
"TIPS" is brought to you by the Earth Care Team of the presbytery. For more information about their work, contact: carletonstock@aol.com or 314-941-9378.

Presbyterian Women Giving Day - 2022
A message from Susan Jackson Dowd, Executive Director of Presbyterian Women
“PW Gives Day, a day to remember the many ways Presbyterian women support the promise of God’s kingdom, is fast approaching. July 31, the day Presbyterian women’s organizations officially combined to become Presbyterian Women, was chosen as a day to acknowledge and honor our PW founders—those foremothers who provided us with the shoulders we stand on. My shoulders—your shoulders—provide PW’s ongoing foundation. PW Gives day supports the annual fund (Mission Pledge), which undergirds PW program from the congregation to the national level.”
Support PW on PW Gives Day 2022
