Advent – A Journey of Faith
Rev. Vanessa Hawkins
Designated Associate Presbytery Leader
Take time to give thanks to God for the faithful witnesses who have gone before us. Pause and give thanks for being one of many being used by God to prepare the path for those who will come after us. And for all these things we give thanks.

What's Happening? Did you know?

  • Radical Hope .... “While many in the church are familiar with the idea of Advent as a season of waiting, counting the days until we celebrate the birth of Jesus. There is a much deeper waiting and deeper yearning — of watching in expectation for Christ to come again.” Learn more here.
  • Grateful for????? .... PCUSA is featuring notes of gratefulness, and want to hear from you. Featured last week of #thankstoactpcusa, was Mike Ferguson, the new Editor of the Presbyterian News Service. The Role of the Minister in
a Dying Congregation
The Center of for Life Learning at Columbia University will offer an online course February 1 - March 4, 2019. According to several sources, approximately 3,500 to 4,000 U.S. churches close their doors every year. In our success-driven culture the topic of dying congregations is taboo, yet that is the reality many pastors and congregations struggle through with little guidance for discernment. In The Role of the Minister in a Dying Congregation, author Woody Jenkins provides a forum and resource to church leaders for on one of the most critical issues facing congregations today: how to help a congregation conclude its ministry life cycle with dignity and meaning. Learn more here.
