Homework
Rev. Dr. Craig M. Howard
Transitional Leader of the
Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy

This past weekend the presbytery had a visioning retreat with the team and sub-team leaders. It was a time of stimulating ideas, great conversation, and rich fellowship. As we met with one another, we realized what a blessing we have when we come together in fellowship. Saturday will be another opportunity for us to meet face to face and get to know one another a little better at our stated Presbytery Gathering.

  • Hurricane Response…Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) has received questions lately about how they raise funds and what the funds support, amid some confusion about the role of additional agencies in responding to hurricanes and other disasters. They have prepared a FAQ on funding to address some of the questions. You can also read about PDA responses to Florence and Michael.

Uprooting Hunger - 2019 Presbytery Wide Goal
Rural realities: Hunger in the heartland, Churches address food deserts and food insecurity
Fresh out of seminary, a pastor listens intently as the chair of the nominating committee drives around the countryside, narrating the history of a rural community that has seen better days. As she listens, she takes note of the sagging porches with faded and torn upholstered furniture. They pass sheep grazing behind a dilapidated barn, and the pastor silently reminds God that this was not what she had in mind when she said “yes” to tending the flock.  Continue to read here.

In Missouri that is the Secretary of State, John R. Ashcroft at (573) 751-4936. In Illinois it would be the Board of Elections (217) 782-4141.
***Please NOTE that mail ballots can be submitted if you meet the criteria. In Illinois, please click here. In Missouri please click here.
