"God is working through our dual efforts to keep some staff “downstream” and send other staff “upstream.” When we do this well, we help children and families find hope and know the love of God."

In light of the recent mass shootings, we have received questions about how to support the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s response to public violence through PDA. Out of respect for the victims and survivors, and to avoid sensationalizing violence and trauma, PDA never sends specific appeals for funds in response to gun violence events. Nevertheless, we do provide response and ongoing support and resources, including grants, to communities affected by gun violence. PDA is currently responding in Buffalo, Laguna Woods, Uvalde and Tulsa. If you would like to support this aspect of our ministry, please designate gifts to our Public Violence account, DR000188: https://bit.ly/DR000188

Caring for God's Wild and Wonderful Creation:
Conduct an energy audit for your church facility
Cooling buildings can contribute a lot to global warming. Look into conducting an energy audit for your congregation. Review the recommendations from the audit and proceed to implement them at your church. Contact your utility provider for free or low-cost audits that may be available.

Enter the Chaos: Engage the Differences to Make a Difference
Sunday, Jul 10, 2:00pm - Wednesday, Jul 13, 11:00am
"Enter the Chaos: Engage the Differences to Make a Difference" is a reflective four-day program grounded in communal contemplative practice that invites participants to deepen their interior lives in order to integrate skills for interpersonal and cultural transformation. Drawing from the study of spiral dynamics theory and the evolution of consciousness, the workshop will provide time to practice new tools for healing encounters with people from differing worldviews in today's seemingly opposing value systems.
A Four Day Program that Draws On:
- the transformative power of contemplation
- conscious intent of the values we want to embody
- understanding our role in the evolutionary process
- systems thinking as a tool for engagement
- willingness to welcome our own ongoing personal transformation

The Voyager Scholarship
The Obama-Chesky Scholarship for Public Service
Shaping the next generation of public service leaders: An increasingly globalized world needs young leaders who can bridge divides and help solve our biggest challenges together.
The Voyager Scholarship was created by the Obamas and Brian Chesky, Airbnb CEO, to help shape such leaders. Even though they come from different backgrounds, both the President and Brian believe that exposure to new places and experiences generates understanding, empathy, and cooperation which equips the next generation to create meaningful change.
This scholarship gives college students financial aid to alleviate the burden of college debt, meaningful travel experiences to expand their horizons, and a network of mentors and leaders to support them.
