Ministry Team Updates
Healthy Systems. Innovative Change.
For the Future of the Church
SAVE THESE DATES - 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day
September 7, 2019 - Woodlawn Chapel
December 7, 2019 and March 7, 2020 - Locations TBD
For a long time, most ministry leaders have assumed they had to choose. They had to choose between disruptive innovation or sustainable systems. Today, smart churches are realizing that their survival depends on not choosing, but embracing both creativity and structure as partners in the same dance. Our group is made up of a peculiar collection of radically practical visionaries, intensely committed to help you build healthy systems that create space for deliberate, often disruptive, innovation. Contact Vanessa Hawkins, at or call her at 314-772-2395 for more information.

200th Anniversary Celebration
Sat., Sept. 14th | 10:00am - 3:00pm
September 18 will mark the 200 th anniversary of the founding of Dardenne Presbyterian Church at 7400 South Outer 364, Dardenne Prairie. The community is invited to join in celebration of this historic event on Saturday, September 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Many indoor and outdoor activities for young and old have been planned.
Dardenne’s story began in 1819, two years before Missouri achieved statehood. The original church site and cemetery was located on a bluff above Dardenne Creek, approximately three miles from the current location. In 1823, a log church was built, and in 1845 a “commodious” brick church was erected. The church was burned to the ground in 1862, believed to be the result of unrest caused by the Civil War. Members continued to meet under an arbor or in homes until the current “Rock Church” was built in 1868. The land was donated by Missouri Supreme Court Justice Barton Bates, the son of Edward Bates, Abraham Lincoln’s first Attorney General. The Rock Church remains in use today in its original location and has witnessed several name changes of the road that passes in front of it – Booneslick Road, “The Old Trail,” Highway N, and currently South 364 Outer.
In the early 1960’s the area of Dardenne Prairie witnessed a population boom, and new subdivisions sprang up around the church. The Rock Church was renovated, but soon became too small to accommodate the unprecedented growth in the area. A large, modern Brick Church was built and dedicated in 1985 and further expansion was added in 2002.
Come relive the history of the pioneering days in Dardenne Prairie and share in the celebration of Dardenne Presbyterian Church’s 200 th anniversary. ALL ARE WELCOME!
