Kenyan Education Giving Challenge Kick-Off
Global Partnerships • Pendo Presbyterian Church • Vision Team
of Presbytery of Giddings Lovejoy
3-Way Partnership to Benefit Kenyan High School Scholarships
|
|
COVID-19 has impacted the Pendo Church and the people of Kenya as it has all of us. The Pendo congregation has been hit especially hard, as the stream of persons emigrating to the United States from Kenya has slowed greatly due to the pandemic. At the same time, members of this congregation have lost many loved ones back home. Of particular need in Kenya at this time is support for high school education. During the pandemic, many students are dropping out of school each year because they cannot pay the small fee associated with attending school.

FEMA’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) gives faith-based and nonprofit organizations, including churches, an opportunity to apply for resources to help them prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from terrorist attacks. The NSGP has been made available for nearly 20 years.
Here are several examples of projects the NSGP funds:
- Surveillance equipment
- Physical protective measures such as fences, blast-proof windows, and concrete barriers
- Active Shooter Training
- Security Training for employees, or members/congregation
Presbytery Disaster Assistance (PDA) is here to provide information about the 2022 application. The application is a difficult, complicated, and time-bound process. The first step in PDA’s assistance this year, we urge you and your congregations to attend one of three upcoming webinars hosted by FEMA and its Center for Faith-based & Neighborhood Partnerships. (Each webinar will present the same content.) The webinars will introduce the grant program and the application process.
If you or your congregations have any questions regarding these webinars, you can contact FEMA’s Centralized Scheduling and Information Desk (CSID) at (800) 368-6498 or [email protected], or email the NSGP inbox at [email protected].

Spiritual Fireside Chat for those with
Mental Health Variances
hosted by Light for the Darkness
Fri, Nov 5 at 7 pm
You are invited to a safe place with others who understand struggles with mental health. It is ok if you are feeling the fear of anxiety or the darkness of depression. We understand. Come sit around the warmth of the fire, the meditative coals, just be, just listen or jump in the discussion if you choose. I'll have some conversation starters to get us going. This monthly gathering is my favorite! Message me or Text me for exact location (Thirza 404.313.4549). Looking forward to meeting you and spending time around the fire.
