Presbytery Gathering Follow Up
We continue to try to improve each hybrid presbytery event. If you could take just a couple of minutes and fill out this survey, we will use that information in our next planning session.
From Your Presbytery Leader
"Today, I had a very inspiring meeting on the monthly All Pastors' zoom call that I want to tell you all about. We did something a little different, launching a new theme-driven game plan that may serve as a fantastic way to bless our all of our cohort gatherings moving forward..."

Education Month
The Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy has offered educational opportunities for church support ministries within our boundaries, pre-pandemic, and we are pleased to announce we have planned new educational experiences for our presbytery members this year.

This September, each Thursday evening at 6:30 pm, we welcome you to join us in learning how to answer the call in some of the support ministries and missions of your church. If you are newly answering a call to serve, exploring answering your nominating committee, or just want a refresh of the call, please join us.
All sessions will be conducted online, using Zoom.
Registration is required and can be found below.

September is Hunger Awareness Month

Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God. — Proverbs 14:31, NIV
September is Hunger Awareness Month. Educating ourselves about hunger in America is a great way to begin to remedy the problem. It is real. Feeding America reports that “people in all 3,143 counties and in all congressional districts in the 50 states and DC experience food insecurity. Food insecurity ranges from 3% in Bowman County, North Dakota to 46% in Presidio County, Texas.”
Connect with Light for the Darkness!
Rev. Thirza Sayers, Executive Director of Light for the Darkness, shared about this ministry at the Presbytery meeting. If you or your church would like to hear more, please contact [email protected] and we would be glad to share the impact and opportunities of L4TD.
We also invite you to watch this short video to learn more about our mission to connect people with mental health variances with each other and with God in order to provide hope and resources for daily struggles.
We have just started our 2023 fundraising campaign with the goal of raising $87,000. We now have five facilitators and are helping start a Light for the Darkness in Cincinnati and one for clergy called Our Selah. Please consider supporting this vital mental health ministry. Give here.

St. Andrews Charitable Foundation
18th Annual Ageless Remarkable
Saint Louisans Gala
Recognizing Impactful Seniors While Supporting Seniors in Need
Saturday, October 1st

One of those amazing seniors is our own, Diane McCullough
St. Andrew’s Charitable Foundation will host their 18th Ageless Remarkable Saint Louisans Gala honoring 11 inspirational Ageless Saint Louisans. The October 1st gala is at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis Downtown at the Arch. All funds raised will provide low-income local seniors with vital programs and services so they can live safely, independently, and healthy in their homes.
Each year a new “class” of Ageless Remarkable Saint Louisans age 70 years or better, who are actively making a tremendous impact in St. Louis through philanthropy, volunteerism, and leadership are nominated. These inspiring individuals are proof that, at any age, anyone can make a difference in our community and in the lives of others.
New Commissioned Pastor Class Forming
A Commissioned Pastor is a ruling elder in the Presbytery who, once training is complete, is eligible for limited pastoral services. Commissioned Pastors may, for example, moderate the session of a congregation to which they are commissioned, administer sacraments, and officiate at marriages where permitted by law.
Many current Commissioned Pastors in the presbytery serve as sole pastors of smaller congregations. Others use their training to strengthen leadership roles in their home churches and throughout the presbytery generally.
Many candidates for the Commissioned Pastor Program complete their training while also employed full-time.
2022 Tech Grants
The Vision Team, at its June meeting, approved releasing $16,000 to fund another round of tech grants. Congregations are invited to complete the application linked HERE which includes pertinent details. Grants are given to congregations seeking to establish or expand their online ministries. Please contact Liz Kanerva, Associate Presbytery Leader, if you have questions not answered on the application form.
We provide scholarships and grants for educational programming, workshops, and seminary study to ordained pastors, commissioned pastors, and church program leaders.
