Preschool Parents,

As Valentine's Day approaches, we wanted to send some helpful hints and tips as you and your student get ready for their classroom celebration next Friday, February 12th.

Valentine's Day Cards

As part of our classroom celebrations, students will bring Valentine's cards for each of their classmates. These simply need to be signed from your student – you do not have to address these to individual classmates.

It is a good idea to start this project with your student now by splitting the cards into smaller groups and completing a few each night with your student so that they do not all have to be done at one time.

If your student is able to write their own name without assistance, we ask that they use a capital letter at the beginning of their name, followed by lower case letters for the rest (ex: Maria). This is helpful practice for them as they work on their handwriting.

If you student does need assistance in writing their own name, here are some ideas in how to help your student complete their Valentines:
– Lightly write their name on each card and the student can trace over your writing. This will be a great way for them to practice their handwriting at home over the next week!
– You can write their name for them on each card, and you student can choose to draw a small picture, or something else that they'd like, to each card. We do want to be sure that your student is somehow involved in signing the cards for their classmates.

Please see the flyer at the bottom of this email for classroom counts and other information.

Valentine's Shoe Boxes

This year, students are invited to decorate a shoebox at home to bring to class on Friday, Feb. 12th, to collect their Valentine's cards in.
This box can be any size or shape, and can be decorated however your student desires.

Again, it is best to allow plenty of time for this to be completed, possibly in small chunks over a few days.

See the flyer below for more information.
