Campaign for St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School
January 24, 2019

Good Evening St. Francis School Parents and Guardians,

As promised, I would like to finish my explanation of why Phase 1 of the Facilities Master Plan starts with building two new Kindergarten classrooms as well as adds a second Preschool classroom and a third Pre-K classroom.

First and foremost, we need to meet the demand of those wanting a Catholic education at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School for their children. Secondly, we must build a sustainable enrollment model in grades K-8th, which impacts our bottom line  and our ability to provide a learning environment that stimulates creativity and critical thinking.

Did you know that in the Preschool and Pre-K program, we have turned away 35+ students each year for the past 4 years?

In Preschool alone, there are 22 available spots for next year. As of today, 22 applications have come in from current families along with 6 applications from new families. This means there is no room for the new families or the approximately 20 additional inquiries we will receive for Preschool by the end of the year.

This is the 5th year that we will have to waitlist families for Preschool and Pre-K.

These waitlisted families also impact our K-8 th grade enrollment. Many of them would like to enroll their older children, yet they don't, as it is difficult to send their kids to two different schools.

This building project will also allow us to have 60 students in 3 Pre-K classes, which in turn would give us 2 Kindergarten classes of 30 children each the following year, if everyone stays. And when adding older siblings to the mix, that too would increase our financial standing allowing us to grow from a really good  school to a great school.

I hope you can understand both the urgency and critical importance of building  this 1 st phase. We want to continue being the Catholic school of choice in North Orange County and by building now we can ensure a successful future for the school and for our children. We hope you will participate and give to Phase 1 of the Campaign for SFA.

I look forward to seeing you at Open House.  Let's celebrate the gift of a Catholic education at St. Francis of Assisi School!
