Some of the best parts of the holidays are the annual traditions: where you buy your tree, what you have for your feast, who's around your table. And like the rest of our lives,Christmas 2020 is going to be different from years past. That's also true for the traditions
at St. Francis: Knights lighting the outdoor tree, the wooden crèche going up, the indoor tree lighting, and seeing everyone who's come home for Christmas at Mass on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We're adapting to make sure we keep you and your family safe as well as our staff and priests. But being different can be fun. It opens up a world of possibilities and allows us to be more creative. Do I have your attention now??Introducing Revel! Rejoice! Roll! We have planned a rolling season of Advent fun all packed into one afternoon extravaganza!
Here are the details:
When: December 13, 1:30-3:30
Where: Enter on St. Francis Drive by The Franciscan School
Why: Because it's Gaudete Sunday. The Sunday during Advent when you light your rose candle, when the priests wear rose vestments and we're meant to Rejoice! As Henri Nouwen describes this joyful feeling as "the experience of knowing that you are unconditionally loved." Now that's something to celebrate!
Who: The priests will be there offering gifts to everyone! The staff will have Christmas trees they have decorated on display, and there will be decorations for all to see - even the wooden crèche will be on display!
How: Just enter campus from the school entrance and roll through our Advent stops. You'll receive a kit for blessing your crèche at home, a bell to ring during the Christmas masses, a Christmas tree blessing, and a luminary kit and blessing. We're asking you to light your luminary on Christmas Eve, take a picture and share it on our parish Facebook page. A sort of Christmas card from you to the rest of the parish!
So let's shake off the burdens of 2020 and take some time to rejoice knowing that we areloved beyond measure and that we are preparing to celebrate the Savior of The World!
Be sure to check out the Preschool Christmas Tree!
We want to thank you on behalf of all our Community Organizations and Ministry Groups for helping to make someone's Christmas a little more special through the Advent Giving Tree and your donations for the Helene Foundation.
