Hello Prescott Public Library Patrons,

This year is rushing by! Library staff is excited to welcome many of the people we haven’t seen for a while as well as many new faces. While some COVID precautions are changing, the library continues to follow the current recommendations on masks and social distancing. Some seating has been added back to the library and meeting rooms are available to reserve. We continue to monitor the changing recommendations.

Although not quite back to pre-pandemic format, the Adult and Youth librarians are bringing summer reading programs to you again beginning this month. All the details are in this newsletter. Library programs continue to be virtual during May, but hopefully conditions will continue to improve and we will begin to host a few in-person programs in June.

I hope you all keep well and that you find your way to a “new normal.”

Every year, the library looks forward to planning and preparing for eight weeks of summer reading fun. The benefits to participating in a summer reading program are many, including helping kids to make reading a lifelong habit, maintaining and increasing reading skills, and generating interest in the library and books.

For all these reasons and more, Prescott Public Library’s summer reading program for kids and teens begins May 20th! The summer reading program encourages everyone to read for pleasure over the summer months with prizes, programs, and activities to reward you along the way. The summer reading program is free, fun, and keeps kids reading all summer long

How to Participate in the Summer Youth Reading Program:

The Seed Library will be getting a new crop of seeds in early May! Choose from a wide selection of vegetable, fruit, herb, and flower seeds such as ground cherries, marigolds or fennel. All seeds are chosen for our local growing conditions and seasons. Visit the Seed Library on the 2^nd floor to browse seeds and gardening books for check out. For more information call the Ask a Librarian desk at 928.777.1526. The Seed Library is a partnership between Prescott Public Library, Prescott Farmers Market, and Janet Wilson with Prescott Gardener. Partial funding for the Seed Library is provided by the Friends of Prescott Public Library.

Books on Wheels takes Prescott Public Library out into the community, delivering library materials to Prescott residents who are not able to come to the library.

Home borrowers select the library materials they would like to have delivered.  Books on Wheels volunteers check out the selected items from Prescott Public Library and deliver them to the home of the borrower.

Books on Wheels serves patrons living in the Prescott city limits who may be confined to their residence temporarily or permanently due to illness or physical disability.
