The library will be closed on Monday, October 11.
The joy of reading, the discovery of ideas,
and the power of information.
Hello Prescott Public Library Patrons -

As I walked to the library this morning I noticed the leaves changing color and the hint of fall in the air. Since the library is open seven days a week it is impossible for all staff to be together at one time, so each fall on a Monday in October we take the day to reestablish ourselves and to teach each other new ways to approach our jobs. On Monday, October 11 the library will be closed so that all staff can attend this annual in-service day.

On October 12 we will be introducing a new online catalog. But..Never Fear! Although you will have access to the new version beginning next week, the current catalog will not be turned off until January. You can use either catalog-or both-until that time. Of course, if you have questions while trying out the new catalog, our librarians are always ready to help.

Library staff is also gradually bringing back in-person library programs. You will see on our calendar, and in this newsletter, that programs are reappearing. Some are still only virtual, some are in person, and some are both. We have learned over the past 18 months that the best laid plans have a way of changing but we are hoping that we can continue to bring programs to the library as winter approaches.

I realize that it has been many months of changes for library services, and that a new catalog presents yet another change. We are confident this is one change you are going to like and look forward to sharing it with you. Thank you for your continued support. I’ll see you in the library.

New Catalog....Coming Soon!
On October 12th, the Yavapai Library Network will offer a new library catalog. The interface will offer you many options not currently available and a much improved user experience. Knowing this is an adjustment for you power-users, both catalogs - the new catalog in beta, and the retiring catalog - will both be available for you to use through December. In January, the new catalog will completely replace the existing catalog. Library staff will keep you informed about progress, offer help, training, and updates as we move through this transition.

You can see a sneak preview of the new catalog here: New YLN Catalog - Sneak Peek - YouTube and access it via our website (look for the "new catalog" links) beginning October 12. As always, if you have questions, please call our Ask a Librarian Desk at 928.777.1526 or email us at ask.librarian@prescott-az.gov. Happy searching!
Stay Up-to-Date
New events and new items are always coming to the library, and we want to make sure we are able to let you know about them. One major change in our area will be the discontinuing of Cableone email addresses. If you currently have a Cableone email address we suggest you get a new email address, and once you have done so let us know so we can update your email in our system. Need help creating a new, free email account? Watch our how-to video!

If you have changed your phone number or moved to a different address we would like to get those updated as well. If you are unsure if your information is current, you can call us at 928.777.1500 or you can visit a service desk at Prescott Public Library.
