In conjunction with the
2013 TGHS Home Tour, "Classic Casa Verdugo," The Glendale Historical Society will present
"Casa Verdugo: Glendale's Red Car Suburb" on Thursday, September 19, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at First Church of Christ, Scientist, 1320 North Brand Blvd., Glendale 91202, in the Casa Verdugo neighborhood.
This free talk will include an overview of the history of this historically significant and architecturally diverse neighborhood, the Casa Verdugo Restaurant, and the Pacific Electric Railway (Red Car) line, which ran on Brand in front of the church.
The presentation will feature newly discovered information about the neighborhood and the Casa Verdugo restaurant and will include rarely-seen images.
Special guest speakers for the evening are preservation architect and home tour curator John LoCascio and archivist Paul Ayers.

The tour, to be held Sunday, September 29 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, will feature five distinctive pre-1920s houses in Casa Verdugo.
