Presentation ECC Weekly Newsletter
Our Lady of the Presentation
Early Childhood Center
ECC Families,

Good afternoon ECC families. I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend as much as I am. It was a long week. I know all of the children had so much fun at their Halloween parties and then again going out Trick or Treating later that evening. I wish I could say things were going to slow down but unfortunately it is just the opposite. We have some really big events coming up. First is the Thanksgiving Feast less then two weeks away! Make sure to review all of the information which is being sent out so you can stay fully informed. Please consider donating a new blanket for our fall service project. We will be collecting them through the week of Thanksgiving Feast. We will be wrapping up the opportunity to order fall pictures this coming week so if you want to place an order and have not yet done so you still have time. All fall developmental reports have gone out so if your child did not receive one please let me know.

God Bless,

Catherine M. Koob
Thanksgiving Feast 11/13 & 11/14
Thanksgiving Feast will be here before you know it. Below you will find a link to the schedule of when each class will be attending, a feast Q & A sheet and food lists for each day. I hope you will be able to join us for this family event.

Our Service Project
We usually collect canned food during the week of Thanksgiving Feast but this year we are going to do something different. We are asking our families to participate in a service project for Bishop Sullivan Center. We will be collecting brand new blankets for families facing economic hardships in the KC Metro area. Please review the link below to see how you can contribute, where and when.

Another Opportunity to Help 11/18
Our Lady of the Presentation will be having a tailgate fundraiser to benefit Stella Henry and Benjamin Gibson. Both of these families attend Our Lady of the Presentation. The event will be held in the OLP Auditorium. We will be live streaming the CHIEFS game and accepting free will donations at the door for a delicious JACK STACK BBQ dinner! There will even be a silent auction raffle! Make plans to join us!
Save the Date Christmas Program
Our annual Christmas Program for preschool and pre-k classes will be here before you know it. Make sure to mark your calendar for one of these dates. Remember this program does not include the toddler or twos classrooms.

Last week to order Fall pictures
ECC families below you will find the link to the ECC fall picture gallery. The password for the gallery is High5. Some of the children's picture may be located in the makeup section. If you are unable to find your child's picture please look through all classes and then let us know and we will contact Sandy. I apologize for all of the confusion around the ordering this year. I think we have all of the bugs worked out if you have any questions please contact Sandy Braun at I don't have a deadline for ordering yet so as soon as Sandy let's me know I will update. As Sandy fills orders she will drop them off at the preschool and we will notify you to pick them up at the front desk.

Cold & Flu Season is coming!
ECC families cold and flu season is a rough time for little guys and parents. Every year we see children way too sick to be at school. We understand it is rough on parents when they have to stay home from work or find back up care for their child. It is our responsibility to make sure all of the children in attendance are well enough to be at school so we can minimize the spread of unwanted germs and sickness. We realize even with all of our best efforts children are going to get sick at school and illnesses are going to spread. Please help us by following the sick child guidelines, having your child wash their hands when entering the building or their classroom, and by letting the front office know when you are keeping your child home due to sickness. Together we will do our best to keep everyone healthy this year!

To the right is an excerpt from the family handbook regarding illness.

We request that your child remain at home if he/she is feeling ill, has an unusual rash or diarrhea, is experiencing pain or tiredness that prohibits them from participating in a normal school day.

If a child has an axillary temperature of 100.5 the parent will be asked to take the child home. If a fever occurs suddenly, the temperature will be rechecked after a 30-minute rest period. If the fever is still present, the parent will be asked to take the child home.
If your child contracts a contagious childhood disease, please let us know so that we may communicate the outbreak to our other families. Please notify the preschool by phone if your child will be absent. Otherwise after 2 consecutive absences, the teacher will contact the family as to the health of their child. If a child becomes ill while at school they will be brought to the office area until the family arrives to take the child home. Presentation ECC is not a sick child care program. Sick children may not return to school until they have been symptom free and on medication for at least 24/48 hours.

If you have a question about whether your child may attend or return to school with regards to sickness it is encouraged to contact Presentation ECC office staff before bringing your child to the center.
Crayola Colorcycle
One of our goals this year is to work on improvements and projects which help us become a greener center. A easy way to do this is to just recycle the items we already use on a daily basis. If you would like to join in there is a link below to the COLORCYCLE FAQ page. We have a container up front available for classes and families to drop off used up markers. They do not have to be Crayola brand to be recycled.
