RKC is honored to host Bonnie Perry for
2 days of presentations. Both presentations are free and are open to everyone.
Nothing makes Bonnie happier than coaching and paddling with people in ALL sorts of conditions. She has had the opportunity to paddle and teach in the mid-west, Canada and the UK. Gordon Brown, Rowland Woollven and Jeff Allen have all been incredible mentors.
In the BCU, Bonnie is one of four women in North America to be awarded the 5 Star Leader on the Sea. She's also a Level 3 Sea Coach, a 3 star assessor, and 3 star canoeist. In the UKCC she is a Level 3 Trainee. In the ACA, Bonnie is a Level 4 Open Water Instructor Trainer and in Paddle Canada a Level 2 Instructor.
Bonnie is also the Senior Pastor/Rector of All Saints' Episcopal Church in Chicago www.allsaintschicago.org

Holy Water: The Spirituality of Kayaking
Time: 7:00 pm Place: St. Thomas Episcopal Church 2441 Nichols Street Trenton, Michigan 48183 The ancient Celts had a similar belief-there are places in this world that are so "thin" we can readily see through them and experience the Holy. I believe that paddling is one such wild environment that brings us face to face with what really matters in this world-call it sacred, call it Holy, call it God-whatever we choose to call it-it really matters. Join Bonnie Perry for a presentation and conversation on those sacred, transcendent moments in our boats and in our lives. Light refreshments and coffee will be served. Saturday, November 16th
Aspirational Paddling: Pushing our boundaries safely and going where we long to be.
Time: 10:30 am
Place: Riverside Kayak Connection, LLC
4016 Biddle Avenue
Wyandotte, MI 48192
Do you long to paddle big water? Do you want to undertake a serious expedition? Become a Level 4 or Level 5 ACA Instructor or a BCU 3 star, 4 star or even a 5 star paddler? How do turn our paddling aspirations into paddling realities? Come and have a conversation with someone who has made a few of her sea kayaking dreams become sea kayaking realities. It's more than practice and more than earnest desire--what else does it take? Many paddlers have dreams about where and how well we might paddle. Yet we may fail to realize these dreams because we aren't sure how to go about implementing our hopes. I have some simple tips that will generate conversation and motivate and perhaps inspire people to safely realize some of their aspirations. * The Wyandotte Christmas Parade will also be Saturday, November 16, 2013 so Biddle Avenue will be closed from Northline to just south of Eureka. Recommended detours are Pennsylvania Avenue or 3rd Street. Please e-mail if you need better detour directions. Bonnie is grateful to be sponsored by Kokatat Watersports Wear, Werner Paddles and Seals spray skirts. |
