Dear Shadow Wood Members,
As your golf maintenance team winds down our Summer Agronomic practices on the turf surfaces, we work hard on perimeter and detail items to enhance your experiences here at Shadow Wood. We are almost ready for opening at the Preserve.
A few Summer accomplishments at the Preserve include:
· All turf surfaces received verti-cutting and aerification to reduce thatch and organic matter which prolongs turf health in the demands of our busy, winter season.
· Palm trees and hardwoods pruned and lifted.
· Landscaped areas cleaned and freshened up.
· Bunker sand depths measured and moved for consistency. It should be noted that this is always in progress as certain rain events displace sand and we then must start over.
· Worn and shaded turf areas receive fresh sod.
· Bridges are examined for deteriorated boards and then replaced.
· Aggressive invasive weed control through the accelerated growing months of Summer.
After observing the golf course and ongoing projects this past week, the decision has been made to keep the course closed through Tuesday, September 20th in order to complete a few remaining tasks.
The Preserve will open on Wednesday, September 21st.
These items can will accomplished safely while the course is closed. A few examples are highlighted below.
