Smoketree Resort is Approved by Town Council

By Julie A. Pace, Paradise Valley Town Council Member

Paradise Valley Town Council unanimously approved the Smoketree Resort that will be built on Lincoln near Scottsdale Road. The property has sat vacant for over 4 years and looks slum and blighted. The first motel was built on the property in 1954 --70 years ago.

The new resort is being built and managed by an individual and his company who resides in PV and he is committed to a successful resort and experience for PV residents and guests.

The new Smoketree resort will be sleek and sophisticated. The owner has committed to an underground parking garage so that helps free up valuable land space to use to enhance the resort.

The resort will have a spa and there is a pool in the center of the property. There is no rooftop bar and the applicant has worked with residents and businesses in the area to address concerns.

The resort with have 82 rooms, including a presidential suite and five single-story casitas with patio facing the interior of the property.

There will be an upscale restaurant and market cafe. Smoketree wants to encourage residents to stop by and get a cup of coffee and enjoy the space.

The Town Council is excited to see this new resort built and integrated into the unique and special Town that we all love and enjoy.
