Supporting Community Service, Humanity, and Peaceful Protests

Recent events remind us all of the importance of humanity and connecting with one another in so many different ways. Whether it is participating in a peaceful protest to advocate for change based on a horrific tragedy, buying groceries to deliver to an elderly neighbor during this pandemic, assisting families in need whose primary breadwinner has lost a job, or teaching a child to read or swim --all are actions that contribute to the greater good.

People like our own Paradise Valley residents, Dr. Joe Zachariah , who is an infectious disease specialist working seven days a week to help COVID-19 patients. He and his peers are instrumental in seeing the 100th COVID-19 patient celebrate leaving Banner Baywood Hospital this past week. And his spouse, Dr. Teresa Zachariah, a well-known pulmonologist working diligently to help patients with breathing issues. Kudos to both Dr. Zachariahs and the thousands of healthcare workers who have selflessly given of themselves to make a difference.

We honor our healthcare workers and first responders who are providing support and care to numerous people with health issues. These healthcare heroes have given so much during this Covid-19 pandemic. We value the relationships we have with our community and the safety of all residents. Together we all can individually make choices to make a difference and be a positive influence in our daily walks of life. Our choices create a better humanity. Community service is embedded in the American culture. We celebrate the thousands of daily acts of generosity, kindness and true assistance to those in need. As a community, it is important to recognize and support these acts while continuing to foster inclusivity, diversity and equality. Today and each day, we can be a leader and foster a better future. Let's all engage in actions to pay it forward with volunteerism. Let's be the example that benefits our current and future generations!

Recent News In Paradise Valley

Debate over public notice requirements reaches impasse in Paradise Valley By  Melissa Rosequist There may be some good news afoot for residents concerned about the degree of communication for new town projects in Paradise Valley, as elected officials are looking at some minor changes that could be helpful when new development comes online. The town’s elected officials looked at a handful of small changes --- with a main one being to increase the size of signs posted to a project site so neighbors and residents can take notice that something is in-the-works there. On May 28, Paradise Valley Town Council had a 45-minute discussion on planning process, applicant interaction and public outreach --- the topic stems from a January planning retreat where the elected leaders discussed at length areas that needed additional attention. Town of Paradise Valley Updates

City of Phoenix Cholla Drive Temporary Water Line The City of Phoenix has begun installation of a temporary above ground water line in the Cholla Drive, Hummingbird Lane and South Foothill Drive area. This waterline is supposed to provide a more reliable water supply to residential properties during the summer months, while a new permanent water line is designed and installed in the affected area. Property owners have been provided with project information from the City of Phoenix and will be notified prior to any service interruptions.

Perimeter Road Improvements: Northbound Traffic Closes to all vehicles and bicycles on Mockingbird between Lincoln and Meadowlark The City of Phoenix plans on installing a new water main on Mockingbird Lane from Lincoln Drive to Meadowlark Lane. This work will be performed concurrent with the town's obligation through its 2016 Five Star Development Agreement to reconstruct and add storm drain and other road improvements on Lincoln Dr, Mockingbird Ln and Indian Bend Road. The heavy underground work will occur on Mockingbird primarily between Monday June 8 and the end of the year. To accommodate the construction, the Northbound Mockingbird Lane will be closed to motorists and cyclists until December 31, 2020.

Intersection Improvements at Lincoln Drive and Invergordon Road The Lincoln Drive and Invergordon Road Intersection Realignment project began construction on Monday, June 8th. Southbound Invergordon Road just north of Lincoln Drive will be closed to provide a safe work zone during daytime hours .

Traffic Restrictions Website and Updates To receive the most up to date information on planned traffic restrictions in the town visit the new  website . Also, AlertPV notices will be sent in advance of major traffic restrictions. Unplanned traffic restrictions due to utility work emergencies or traffic signal outages will be sent via AlertPV by the Police Department. Post Office Temporary Operating Hours The Post Office reopened on June 1st. Operating hours have temporarily changed to Monday through Thursday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. The Post Office will be closed Fridays.

Voter Registration or Early Voting Ballot Request 2020 is a big election year for Arizona and across the country! The primary election will fall on August 4 and the general election will be held on November 3 . You must register to vote by July 6 to vote in the primary election.
