Dear Leadership Greater Huntsville Alumni,
On behalf of the Board of Leadership Greater Huntsville, I am thrilled to announce we have hired Shannon O’Meara Drake as our new President and CEO. Shannon will join the LGH team on September 23, 2019.
Shannon, a Huntsville native and graduate of Leadership Flagship Class 25, comes to LGH from IronMountain Solutions where she served as Corporate Community Relations Coordinator. She brings experience in the nonprofit sector with a significant tenure at Still Serving Veterans and the Women’s Business Center of North Alabama. Her contribution to our community in both roles was seen far and wide across our region. In addition to her time working in the nonprofit sector, Shannon also brings a wealth of marketing experience and additional technical experience from her service at ADTRAN and Intergraph.
A graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, Shannon has shared that her heart is with giving back through community service. We know this makes her new position at Leadership Greater Huntsville a perfect fit. Servant leadership is at the core of everything we do at LGH, and we know she will further our mission and continue to identify, educate, inspire, and connect leaders to build a better community.
“I am excited to join the LGH team, board and volunteers as we continue to promote and grow our leadership programs,” said Drake. “I look forward to carrying on the tradition of Leadership Greater Huntsville by continuing to provide programs that will grow great leaders in the community.”
Jim Diehl, LGH Board Vice Chair, joins me in welcoming Shannon. "We are extremely pleased to have Shannon as the new President and CEO of LGH. Her experience in the non-profit world, combined with her corporate and marketing background, will serve her well in this exciting new role. We are looking forward to working with Shannon to help take this outstanding organization of Huntsville’s finest leaders to the next level.”
We are looking forward to the energy and excitement Shannon will bring to this team. Shannon is a natural advocate for what we do, and we look forward to having such a prominent voice join our already passionate team.
Shannon currently lives in Brownsboro with her husband James. She has a daughter, Alexandra, who is married to Jon Roberts, and they are expecting their first child in February 2020. When Shannon isn’t working, she enjoys CrossFit, hiking, and farming.
Please join me in congratulating and supporting Shannon in her new role. We are forever grateful for the past and eagerly anticipate the future of LGH.
All the best,
Lori Light
Board Chair
