Message from the Coordinator of Alumni Engagement

Hi, Alumni!

We are off to a great start in our efforts to begin a Student Emergency Fund at Bucks. Thanks to the overwhelming support of friends and alumni, we are approaching 50% of our goal! We remain dedicated to our initiative of providing support for students who find themselves in challenging situations that could potentially derail them from completing their education.

Will you join us in our efforts by donating to the Means to Succeed Campaign? When we reach 200 donors, Steve Jordan, long-time friend of Bucks, will give $5,000 to the campaign! Donations of ALL sizes count toward this goal! Thank you for your support!
All My Best,

Diversity & Inclusion
Following the murder of Mr. George Floyd, mass protests have brought attention to the brutal (and often fatal) police tactics commonly used on African-Americans & people of color. It's the obligation of Bucks to use this opportunity to support our faculty, staff, students, & people of color in our community.

Students React to Remote and Online Learning

When in-person classes had to abruptly switch to remote and online in mid-March, faculty members had just over a week to transition their course materials, in the midst of a global pandemic. There was so much uncertainty, and we weren't sure how students would react to this new modality.

However, after surveying students about remote learning during the spring 2020 semester, we found that while many did not necessarily enjoy having to move in-person classes online, they believed that Bucks as an institution handled the overall transition well. Many students, including Talyn T., mentioned how specific professors went above and beyond to ensure student success:

"I had Professor Stacey Buck for a fast track math course and she was absolutely amazing! We had a zoom call at least once a week to go over problems I didn’t understand. This is huge because she was teaching 8 classes at the time and I have no idea how she had time to talk to me as much as she did! Math is a really tough subject for me and I got a 91%! My highest math grade ever!"

Bucks Community Awards 2020
Education Award Recipients: Samantha Gross & Mandy Reilly
Motivated by the statistic that at least one-third of Bucks students have experienced food insecurity while attending the College, Mandy Reilly & Samantha Gross initiated the establishment of the Fighting Food Insecurity Task Force. Both have a mission to support students who are experiencing non-academic barriers to success, including food insecurity. They believe all students should have access to higher education without compromising their living conditions and without skipping meals.
