President Chandra's Bulletin
July 26, 2022
Fellow Rotarians!
My new board to serve our club from 2022 - 2023 met for the first time of this new calendar year at Salt Creek Wine Company. It was so great to actually meet in person, have a glass of wine and actually get some important work done! With four past presidents in attendance, there's no shortage of ideas, opinions and very little wiggle room for error on my part, without one of them promptly noticing! Luckily, they all kept me on track made sure we had a very productive first board meeting.
At our regular Friday meeting, our Program Chair Mark Montgomery led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Then Past President Madame Kim Douglas provided double duty with both inspiration and humor. Rischi Paul Sharma served as Sergeant At Arms with President Elect Mike Gerard as bag man. Programs Chair Mark Montgomery introduced our
guest speaker, Anna Lisa Lukes, from The Lukes Network. They are an Orange County based full-service strategic marketing, public relations, government affairs, event production and consulting firm. They serve both the private and public sector. Mrs. Lukes spoke about "Triple Bottom Line", a phase that focuses on the three objectives of "People, Planet and Profit". She discussed practical methods for helping businesses incorporate all three elements of sustainability into their strategic work plan.
This week, we will welcome our new District Governor Dan Ouweleen. He will discuss D5320's new local Rotary campaign called DO MORE… that ties into Rotary International President Jennifer Jones’ theme of “Imagine.” Imagine us doing more by Expanding Our Reach – Increasing Our Impact – Increase Our Ability to Adapt and Enhance Participant Engagement in our local Rotary 5320. Board members, please be prepared to meet with Dan for 20 minutes after our regular meeting this Friday.

Coming up at the end of August, the City of Laguna Niguel’s Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a 3-day festival starting Friday, August 26th through Sunday, August 28th. This end-of-summer event will include music, rides, games, food, and much more! Our club will be hosting a booth so we'll need volunteers to assist us. We'll soon have a sign-ups to man the booth for different shifts over that weekend.

We have lots of projects and events to look forward to throughout the rest of the year, so please mark your calendars!

Yours in Service,
Chandra Chell
