President Chandra's Bulletin

|
|
This past week, our club was visited by long time Rotarian and former city council member, Gary Capata. We were all very happy to see him and catch up a bit. We began our meeting with RoseAnne Ruccello leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Chris Doherty followed with Inspiration by sharing how his life has been so much more meaningful now that he has a growing family and is serving as a Rotarian. Gary Capata stepped up to provide us with the humor. I must admit, I miss Gary's renown calculation that only an accountant could come up with to determine how much a member should be fined for one of their birthdays or anniversaries. We continued on with President-Elect Mike Gerard presiding over Sergeant At Arms duty. Programs Chair Mark Montgomery introduced our guest speaker Daniel Pham.
|
Mr. Pham is a distinguished professional photographer that has won over 200 medal awards for his photos in the categories of sports, nature, wildlife, and fashion. Many of his photos have been featured in magazines and newspapers including the LA Times, the Orange County Register, Beauty Magazine and various pageantry, sports and wildlife publications.
|
As pageant and fashion photographer, Mr. Pham has worked at over 150 local, state and national pageants including Ms. America, for which President Trump was the original owner, Miss California, Miss OC, Miss Global, LA Fashion Week, NY Fashion week, OC Fashion week, Art Heart fashion week and the Victoria's Secret fashion show.
|
Mr. Pham is a member of a prestigious network of photographers that are sent around the world for coveted assignments in some of the most exotic locations. He brought along several of his award winning prints. From the lady that was 118 years old, to the Buddhist monks, to children and the water buffalo, to the matriarchal villages, each photo told its own story about the people, place and time. It was truly inspirational to hear the stories from these far away places that appear to be frozen in time. Mr. Pham also brought along various metals that he received from different countries as well as the letter or service and the metal awarded by President Donald Trump.

One very interesting fact about Mr. Pham is that the photography has always been a hobby, done one the side of his actual day job. Mr. Pham is actually a semiconductor design and test engineer that worked at Broadcom for 25 years. He fondly recalled those days working with its founders, Henry Samueli and Henry Nicholas.
Coming up at the end of August, the City of Laguna Niguel’s Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the 3-day Sea Country Festival starting Friday, August 26th through Sunday, August 28th. This end-of-summer event will include music, rides, games, food, and much more! Our club will be hosting a booth. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! Please RSVP in the Sea Country Festival details below to assist in our Rotary booth. There will be different shifts available over that weekend.
We have lots of projects and events to look forward to throughout the rest of year. Please mark your calendars! We are here to serve and appreciate the time and effort our members contribute toward our community.
Yours in Service,
Chandra Chell
2022-23 President

The Rotarian's Four-Way Test
of the things we think, say or do!
First - Is it the TRUTH?
Second - is it FAIR to all concerned?
Third - Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Fourth - Will it be BENEFICIAL to ALL concerned?
