President Chandra's Bulletin

December 1, 2022

Fellow Rotarians!

Its hard to believe its already December now that I've returned from a two week trip in 'Egypt. Feels like I was gone for a month. The tour started off in Cairo where we went to Giza Plateau to see the pyramids. Then we flew down to Luxor to see the sites along the Nile that included Karnak, Luxor Temple, Abydos, Dendera and a balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings. Then came the cruise down the Nile to see the Aswan Quarry, Elephantine Island and the Temple of Isis. From there, we then flew back to Cairo to tour the other pyramid sites (Red, Bent, Step), and the underground Sarapeum. The last day we got to tour the Sphinx enclosure and go into the King's Chamber, Queen's Chamber and Subterranean Chamber of Grand Pyramid. This was truly the trip of a lifetime!

I'd like to thank President-Elect Mike Gerard for handling club business while I was out of the country. He ran the November 15th meeting featuring Cybersecurity Expert Ed Pscheidt and fellow Rotarian from Mission Viejo whom provided a compelling presentation. Also this past month, Devi Pillai led the charge to have our club participate in the Niguel Botanical Preserve's Fall Planting Event. As always, Monty McDivitt and his crew made this a turnkey event for anyone in the community that wished to come help out. They truly appreciated that our club supported their event.

President Chandra Chell

This Saturday December 3rd, we'll host a holiday party for the Glennwood House young adult residents in Laguna Beach. This is truly a heartwarming event for the residents as they get to celebrate the joy of the holiday season. Many of them will even remember us from previous years' parties. Marilyn Crary has organized this event and will have Riley the Magician come entertain the residents in addition to getting their photos with Santa Claus. Please RSVP below if you would like to join us!

Next week, our guest speaker will be Chris Skorina, the District Governor nominated for 2024 - 2025. He will give us a presentation on the importance of the Rotary International Foundation and why each club should contribute each year, and which projects use the funds from the Foundation.

Please mark your calendars! We are here to serve and appreciate the time and effort our members contribute toward our community.

Yours in Service,

Chandra Chell

2022-23 President
