President Eileen's News Flash!
January 13, 2022
To My Esteemed and Amazing Fellow Rotarians! First, Happy New Year! Can you believe we are already in our second week of 2022? Time is just moving right along so don't forget to stop and smell the roses!

I hope you were all able to enjoy holiday festivities with your families and friends! It has been almost a month since we had our last in-person meeting and were able to enjoy lunch together! To wrap up our 2021 year, we have included photos from our last meeting and other activities that Rotarians enjoyed during the holidays!
It was great to see so many Rotarians participate in the Laguna Niguel Holiday Parade, including our wonderful Senator Pat Bates, our amazing Mayor Elaine Gennawey, our distinguished Council Member/Sergeant-At-Arms Rischi Paul Sharma, and our fabulous Treasurer RoseAnne Ruccello! Great job Rotarians!
Before I continue, I would like to take a moment to congratulate our amazing Past President Madame Kim Douglas on her special recognition by our District Governor Cisca Stellhorn! Governor Cisca presented Madame Kim with a Certificate of Appreciation for her dedication, inspiration, innovation and creativity as the 2020-21 President of the Rotary Club of Laguna Niguel! I wholeheartedly agree with the statement on the certificate that reads, "You have made a positive difference in your community and the world!" Please join me in thanking and congratulating Madame Kim for all her hard work and dedication to our club and beyond!

Please join me in welcoming Susan Parmelee, Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Wellness & Prevention Center, and Megan Hernandez, WPC Board Member! Their presentation topic is "Well Being of Youth and the Work of the Wellness & Prevention Center." See you all on Zoom tomorrow at noon!

SUSAN PARMELEE, LCSW I Executive Director
Susan is one of the founders of the Wellness & Prevention Center. A graduate of Cornell University and San Diego State University, Susan has been working in non-profits and mental health care for over 16 years. Susan is dedicated to access for all to quality prevention and mental health services. Susan has witnessed an increase in teens diagnosed with anxiety and depression and is striving to help communities in South Orange County target the causes of this increase while helping teens who are struggling.
Megan Hernandez, WPC Board Member
Megan Hernandez lives in Laguna Niguel with her husband and two children, 10 and 7. She is a leadership coach, facilitator, and yoga instructor, and is passionate about bringing people together around issues that matter. Four years ago she helped initiate and nurture a movement in the community to bring more mental health support for our teens. This effort has resulted in additional mental health support on the campuses of our middle schools and high school, as well as community education events around mental health and wellness, and drug use and prevention. She now serves as secretary on the board of Wellness & Prevention Center, and represents the Aliso Viejo and Laguna Niguel communities.
