Kent Teskey, QC, (

Rob Armstrong, QC, who will take over as President from
Don Cranston, QC in February for the 2019-20 term.
Kent received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta. He practices exclusively in the area of criminal defence law. He joined the Board in 2015.
"I am honoured to be elected by my fellow Benchers as the President-Elect of the Law Society of Alberta," said Kent. "I look forward to continuing the work of the Law Society by ensuring that Albertans continue to receive high quality, innovative and ethical legal services from its 10,000 lawyers."
Kent continued, "As a relatively young lawyer called in 2005, I am interested in ensuring that new lawyers find a satisfying and safe place to practice while being equipped to succeed. However, statistics tell us that almost half of lawyers leave the profession after five years. In my view, the Law Society should work diligently to ensure that all of our lawyers have the opportunity to find their place within our profession."
"The success of the Law Society will and should be measured by the quality, diversity and impact of the individual Alberta lawyers we regulate. The Benchers recognize the need to be responsive to the significant changes facing lawyers in Alberta and we want to hear from co
lleagues and stakeholders as we work towards a more modern and inclusive profession for the 21st century."
