President's Corner: Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers

Hello Norman,

As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, I have had the pleasure of supporting STEM related programs in our local schools. I have been mentoring a high school FIRST Robotics team (FRC) for many years, working hand-in-hand with the students to help them develop the problem solving and manufacturing skills to successfully compete in this global game. This initiative provides an amazing opportunity for students to dive into the world of engineering, where they can apply their knowledge in a hands-on, creative environment.

At Rotomation, we understand the importance of real-world experience in complementing academic learning. That’s why we are thrilled to open our doors to various schools with STEM programs. We have hosted tours every year for these bright young minds, exposing them to real life manufacturing. In most cases, we arrange for the students to visit three facilities over the course of a day, including our own.

Check out these photos from our latest tour, made up of middle school age students from Modern Minds Learning's STEM program located right here in Ormond Beach.

The students were introduced to the technical aspects of our work and also had the opportunity to observe engineering principles come to life in a manufacturing setting. It was incredibly rewarding to see their curiosity and enthusiasm grow as they connected their classroom learning with Rotomation's real-world applications.

By engaging with these students, we hope to inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators. At Rotomation, we believe that investing in education and providing learning opportunities is key to ensuring a bright future for both our industry and the broader community.

I’m proud of these mentorship roles and opportunities that I and the staff at Rotomation are playing in shaping young minds and look forward to continuing our support for STEM education.

Sincerely,

Norman Lane
