President's Letter

I hope you all are finding a chance to get out on the golf course between the raindrops, the snow and the freezing temperatures!  Maybe you were fortunate enough to play in one of our last One-Days of the year – we had some wonderful venues!

This will be my last letter to all of you as your WSCGA President. Chairing the State Rep. meeting on January 17, 2019 will be my last official duty!  It has been an exciting two years and I have truly enjoyed my time as your President.  Working with our Executive Director, Clarissa Childs, and our Tournament Coordinator, Jaynelle Moore, has been eye-opening; seeing firsthand all the time and effort it takes to keep the WSCGA running smoothly and professionally.  Our Association wouldn’t be where it is today if it wasn’t for all of you, coming out and playing in our Championships and One-Days, volunteering to host and work tournaments,  and just being out there talking up and supporting our great Association!

I have had a wonderful Board and would like to thank all of them for their hard work and dedication.  Every one of them have added something extra to our Association, between using their professional expertise, stepping up to help run tournaments, and giving their thoughtful ideas on making us a better organization.  Over this past year we had our first SC Women’s Open, added additional and improved Nine and Wines throughout the State, enhanced the Match Play Championship (renaming it the “Walton Horton and Jeanne Campbell WSCGA Match Play Championship” with a new trophy!) by opening it to more ladies in making it a net championship, and adding a new One-Day 18-hole/9-hole play day!

We have a lot more wonderful things planned for the coming year, starting with a Rules Seminar, showcasing the new 2019 USGA rules changes following the State Rep. Meeting on January 17, 2019 in Columbia.  This is open to everyone and I encourage you to attend – see the attached information for sign-up.  We also are going to have our third annual WSCGA Ladies’ Golf Trip on February 21-24, 2019 at Jekyll Island.  Unfortunately we only have a limited number of spaces, so take a look at the attached information and sign-up ASAP!  Clarissa has been hard at work coming up with some more fun tournaments, so you will want to watch your e-mails closely for updates!

I know that headed by our incoming President, Lynn Holmes, along with our existing Board and new members coming on in January, all the great things we have accomplished will continue!  I am excited for the future of women’s golf and the WSCGA in South Carolina!

Have a wonderful Holiday Season and we’ll see you on the links!

Thank you!
Leah Bohnen

The ladies of the WSCGA would like to say Thank You for supporting us and joining our quest to produce great women's tournaments in South Carolina.
