Dear Jardineros,

November is here, and I consider it my favorite month of the year. We reflect on those who have passed, those who do and have served, and then we move on to Thanksgiving. We make the point to sit down together. I am fortunate to live here and be able to do so much. I like to consider that everyday is Thanksgiving.

That said, this is also a critical time for Jardineros. This is renewal time! Your timely renewal ensures you to be included in the Yearbook AND makes a huge impact to the financial planning for 2027. If you have not already renewed, please to go to the Jardineros website. The Membership and Calendar pages have tabs to renew online. This is the quickest means for your information to be received. You may also bring your check to the November meeting.

The November meeting is a full one. In addition to renewal, you can have your photograph taken for the Yearbook. Is it time for a new one?! You can sign up for interest groups; and I encourage you to sign up as a greeter. This is a great way to meet members.

AND, the program for November is a Community Service event. The program committee has put much effort in setting up this informative program. There will be upwards of 20 groups that serve all of us in Placitas, some of which may be new to you and/or you may have been wondering what services they offer. The organizations range from the Library and Senior Center to the Sheriff, Volunteer Fire Department and Sandoval County Health Services and Waste Management. Each time we hold this event it is surprising how much we learn about the groups that support each of us and our community.

Jardineros hosts this session every few years to allow our members, and the public, to ask questions and learn one-on-one what the service organizations can do for them. If you have friends, neighbors, that might find this helpful, please invite them to come.

If that isn’t enough, since our program is focused on Community Service, it seems appropriate that we switch it up this year, and our Community Service Award is being presented in November.



There will be refreshments at 9 as usual. After a brief meeting you are invited to meet with the organization representatives, who will be at tables around the fellowship hall outside the sanctuary. They are scheduled to be there between 10am and Noon. We hope you will join us in this program and bring your questions.
