Dear Jardineros Members,

Welcome to November – cooler temps, the end of Daylight Savings Time, and thoughts of Thanksgiving turkeys abound! And if you are like me, you are about to plunge head first into this wonderful time of year when the planning and resulting events come fast and furious along with thoughts of running away and hiding until spring. Where are those organizational skills we pride ourselves on having? Come to our meeting on November 6th and you are in for a treat! Our speaker this month is Miriam Ortiz y Pino who promises we CAN gain control over our time, stuff and space!

Our meeting on Wednesday, November 6th will begin with visiting and delicious goodies provided by our Refreshment Committee at 9:00 at the Las Placitas Presbyterian Church. Our meeting will start at 9:30 with Miriam Ortiz y Pino’s presentation on “More Than Organized.” Miriam is a Certified Professional Organizer and Business Coach from Albuquerque. She will be talking to us about removing the “stuff” that stands in the way of achieving the things we want. After the presentation, we will break for more socializing and eating and then reconvene for our business meeting.

Before our meeting and during the break, please take time to renew your membership for 2025 – Our Diamond Jubilee Year! The Membership Committee will be available to take your $75 dues check for next year. Renewing now will ensure your picture is included in the 2025 Yearbook.

You will also have the opportunity to sign up for any of our Interest Groups. As many of you know, Jardineros was initially started as a Garden Club. Our Plant Whisperers Interest Group continues that heritage. A great example is one of their 2025 projects – making Seed Balls for distribution at many of the special events planned for next year. Seed Balls are easy to make. You need shredded copy paper and/or newspaper, seeds from local plants and a few instructions from members of the Plant Whisperers Interest Group. If this sounds like a fun activity, you can sign up to help with the project at our meeting on Wednesday.

At our meeting, you will also hear more about the plans for more Diamond Jubilee Events next year as we celebrate 60 years of Jardineros de Placitas in 2025. Cathryne Richards and Kathy Hays and their 60th Anniversary Committee have been hard at work scheduling events throughout 2025 starting with our New Member Social on January 13, 2025. New and current members will be invited to an afternoon of socializing at the Placitas Community Library. In the following months special events will be happening on a regular basis. Look for a complete list of these to be posted in the 2025 Yearbook and on our Jardineros website. Be sure and Save the Date for our culminating Diamond Jubilee Celebrations at our Holiday Brunch on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 and our formal celebration and dinner at the Prairie Star Banquet Hall on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Hear more exciting details on Wednesday.

As all Board meetings are open to all members, I want you to know I have called an emergency meeting of the Board of Directors to be held immediately after our November 6th regular meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to finalize the Board feedback on the proposed Bylaws changes.

Well, I am stoked and ready for a refresher on organizational skills and I hope you are too. Looking forward to seeing you next Wednesday.
