Dear Jardineros Members,
On August 14th we enjoyed another Jubilee Year special event as the Out to Lunch Bunch Interest Group sponsored a delightful luncheon for 40 people at the Range Café in Bernalillo. We were surrounded by good friends, fun conversations and a special raffle! The restaurant provided outstanding service, and delicious food. Many thanks to Cathryne and Tom Richards, Mike and Elaine Carey, and Dianna Stone for putting this together and keeping all informed.
September is one of my favorite months full of new beginnings and the promise of cooler temperatures as we begin our journey into my favorite season of the year – Autumn. Activities are picking up and Jardineros leads the way with our monthly meeting on Wednesday, September 3rd at the Las Placitas Presbyterian Church. We will begin at 9:00 AM with gathering and refreshments before our meeting starts at 9:30.
Our program this month is Wildfire Safety. Matthew Apodaca, Firefighter Paramedic with Sandoval County Fire Rescue Station 43, will talk to us about wildfire safety and provide tips to protect ourselves and our homes. After our program, we will take a short break for more visiting and snacking before our business meeting.
This month the Nominating Committee, made up of Carol Horner, Barbara Hill and Tricia Lund, will present the slate of officers for 2026. Members will be able to submit additional nominations by email to Carol, as the Chair of the committee, for one week after our meeting. Carol will then submit the names of all candidates to the webmaster who will prepare an electronic ballot. Voting will be open for 10 days. The elected officers will be presented at the October meeting.
As our Year of Celebrations continues, here are the upcoming special events for the next three months. Mark your calendars and plan to join the celebration of our 60th Anniversary Year.
