I can only imagine how many of you are enjoying some time off right now with your family members as Spring Break is officially here. I wish you all the best wherever you are when this message reaches your inbox. Our Central Florida chapter has been working nonstop supporting our committees and planning many of our great events. We continue to urge many of you to consider getting involve in a committee since we need more support as our chapter continues to grow. If you weren't aware, the Central Florida chapter is the biggest chapter in the state with almost 700 members. If you are interested in getting involve, please reply to this email and I will personally get back to you.

Below you will find an update of what has been happening over the last couple of months and what is taking place in the near future. As your current president, I am honored to lead such a great group of professionals and I encourage many of you to get involve with FES and give back to our community. MATHCOUNTS 2024

Our local MATHCOUNTS competition was a complete success. Thanks to all who continuously support many of our events for us to continue to support the local and state MATHCOUNTS competition. The state competition will take place next week on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th. Thanks to all of those who registered to volunteer in the local and state competition. Your support to this event is invaluable as they need as many volunteers as they can get.

As the current president i want to thank Stephanie Shealey for leading our MATHCOUNTS committee and to all the other committee volunteers who commit year after year to assure this event continues to take place. If you want to know more about this committee, reply to this email and let me know you are interested in hearing more about this committee.

Engineering Week 2024

Our chapter joined our friends from ASCE to participate in several E-week events including the 2024 Engineering Week Dinner and Joint Award Ceremony where three of our members were awarded the following awards:

Technical Contribution Leader Award - This award went to Artis Dukes for his great contributions to our chapter on the technical side. Artis maintains our constant contact and social media accounts. We wouldn't be able to achieve so many great things for our marketing efforts without Artis. We truly appreciate your help and thanks for everything you do.

Member of the Year Award - This award went to Francina Gil, P.E. for her contributions to our chapter. For taking the challenge to develop our sponsorships committee and helping us finalize the development of the redesigned Central Florida chapter website. For being so proactive and determined to get things done, we thank you. You have definitively been the member of the year. Congratulations for your achievement.

Engineer of the Year Award - This award went to Dr. Charles Davis for his absolute commitment to our Florida Engineering Society, for your everlasting support to our Central Florida chapter, for your advice and continuous support to the Board Members and for your guidance as we navigate through challenges of uncertainty each year. You are part of the reason we consider you a close friend. You know we will provide you the support needed as you take over as FES President at the state level. K-12th Committee

Our K-12th Committee has been very active this year. We are so thankful for Dave Schmitt, P.E. for leading this committee and supporting the mission to educate elementary school students why pursuing a career in STEM is so cool. Our board members supported multiple presentations to 5th graders at Timber Lakes, Camelot and Castle Creek Elementary Schools where we did presentations for several engineering disciplines showing these kids what we do and how a career in engineering impacts our society.

This committee has several other events in the next couple of weeks shown below:

·   Stone Lakes Elementary School - 3/29/2024 - To serve at this event contact dave.schmitt@dseorl.com

·   Holy Family Catholic School - 4/26/2024 - To serve at this event contact cdossantos@dewberry.com

I assure you that you will continue to participate knowing that you can be part of motivating these young kids to become future engineers. Below are some pictures of the past events.

Sponsorships Committee

Our Sponsorships Committee lead by Francina Gil and Kevin Baboolall has had a phenomenal response from our consultant partners. We were able to get 8 gold and 4 bronze sponsors. This committee develop a plan to define our sponsorship packages and market the promotion to get more partners.
