The key items of the (regular) board meeting of April 9 are:
- Per Treasurer, Wayne DeBus, any bill submitted that exceeds $100.00 must be approved by the board before payment.
- Vice President, Ralph Whitney, explained the contractor’s advice that the spa heater must be relocated at a cost of $1,000.00. The Board approved.
- The top 3 projects – electrical box, bathroom windows, kitchen drain/sink – will proceed with the additional task of relocating the spa heater.
- Lynn Helferich resigned her position as head of the Property Maintenance Committee, due to a lack of board support as the committee worked with the City to report violations. It was noted that this job is a tough one; so tough, that enforcement has been, for the most part, ignored for 14 months. We are in need of a replacement committee head.
- Election Logistics: A paper and electronic version of the ballot will be provided. For those without email, a ballot will be delivered to their home. Thanks to the volunteers who are in place. The election begins on May 4. It concludes on May 14 at the board meeting.
- Neighborhood Watch reminds us that carport crime continues to increase and that carports do contain attractive targets for thefts.
- The social committee continues to make VM III a terrific place to live. Look for the ‘Movie Night’ of April 23. Cinco de Mayo (May 5) is sure to be a fiesta to remember!
A Thornwood resident shared this with me before the April 9 meeting: “Regardless of whether the city or the HOA notifies us of infractions, we can remind ourselves that we all want the same thing – to live in a well-maintained neighborhood.”
