  • This Edition

On Monday we concluded our Back Beach patrols and this marks the end of a long season - one that started back in late November. Many thanks to the Life Saving Service team - Jo, Tom and Jim, to our Patrol leaders - the Captains and Vice Captains and to the many that volunteered during the course of the season. It's important to remember that this is our core business and it's such an important function at what can be a dangerous location. All of the statistics are still yet to be tallied and this also has a flow on to Bronze Bonds which will be available to those eligible as soon as we can.

I'm pleased to report to the membership that the period for public submissions to our Planning application for the new Clubhouse closed with no objections. This is a terrific achievement and the efforts that we went to, to engage with the community and neighbours will help us to keep progressing this important project. The Building Committee will now be completing the 'building drawings' and necessary engineering etc. activities. I trust that we will soon hear some news from the State Government in regard to confirmed State funding support for this project.

As indicated in the logo above, a reminder that this is our 70th Anniversary and the event sub committee are well advanced in planning 2 events at Point Lonsdale during the Melbourne Cup long weekend (a Cocktail Party on the Saturday evening and a Brunch on the Sunday) - both at the Clubhouse ..... maybe a farewell to the old building for some ??

With this being our 70th year, did you know that we have been appearing in monthly editions of The Rip newsletter and have a display at the Queenscliff Historical Museum ? Both of these activities are helping us to celebrate the long history of the Club and to demonstrate what we have achieved and how we have contributed to the Community. More information can be found at and

Congratulations to Chloe Holliday for her effort's at the Victorian Lifesaving Championships. Chloe achieved an impressive 3rd in the final of the Under 19 Womens Beach Sprint. Well done Chloe.

The sub committee tasked with drafting our next Strategic Plan now have now completed the draft which will be distributed to members in the near future and during the Queens's Birthday long weekend we will conduct a member information / consultation session at the Clubhouse to discuss this.

In closing we soon hope to be able to release details about this Season's Annual Presentation Night, set for Saturday 15th July, which will be held in Melbourne this Season.

70th Anniversary celebrations - save the date !

Don't forget to keep Saturday 4th November AND Sunday 5th November 2017 free for celebrations at Point Lonsdale for our 70th anniversary. An event sub committee has been formed and is working away in the background. Queries to Sue Doman :
