    Vale - Terry 'Specs' Lane
The Committee and Members of the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club mourn the sudden passing of Life Member Terry 'Specs' Lane. Our sincere condolences to Diane and Family.
A Life Member, competitor and coach in March Past and R&R, Terry made a great contribution to the Club during the 1960's.
He was a member of many committees and also took on the roles of Club Captain, Examiner, Treasurer and Vice President.
Terry was a generous, humble person who gave so much to so many in the Club. Specs we will miss you.
The service for Terry will be on Wednesday this week - 1st August at the Manningham Club, 1 Thompson Rd Bulleen at 10:30am.

A few weeks ago we held our Annual General Meeting for Season 2017 / 2018 - great turnup - thanks to those that attended and Sue for the great spread afterwards.
All position on the Executive are filled for Season 18/19, with a few positions vacant on the general committee positions:
Without volunteers sharing the load we cannot offer such a wide range of programs and what we do offer may not be as good as it could be !
If you are interested, or want to know more about a role please make contact with the Executive Committee member responsible for that area in the first instance:

Life Saving Services (Charlie Pitney) - Service Standards and Efficiency Officer.
    Y&LD - Nippers (Rich Howden) - Training Development Officer (Y&LD) x 2.
Aquatic Sports (Gus Birrell) - Senior Coach, Team Manager, Surf Boat Captain & Beach Captain.
Administration (Steve Woodfull) - Editor, OH&S Officer
If you are keen to stand and help out, please complete the Nomination form ( ) and if possible arrange for a nominee or seconder or we can help with that.

Information for membership renewals / applications for the new Season have not been sent out yet. So, the word from the Admin team is not to panic, you're not late and you won't miss out on anything !

The Life Saving Victoria Awards of Excellence are just around the corner and I'm proud to share that we have two shortlisted nominees.
The first is to Kirsten MacLeod and the NCCCC for their sensational effort in fundraising for the new Clubhouse, for the Outstanding Achievement award.
The second is Justine Cain for the Volunteer Trainer of the Year Award.
Congratulations and Well done, fingers crossed !

Finally, the first committee meeting is scheduled for a couple of weeks which will start things in earnest !

    From the Building Committee

The design development process continues with the Building Committee (BC) holding various meetings with the Project Manager, architect and design team (incl. various specialist consultants). User group sessions have commenced and providing valuable input to the process.

From the New Clubhouse Capital Campaign Committee

On behalf of the NCCCC I can update you that the total banked as of today is $ 1 348 037.90. The Executive has taken the opportunity to securely invest a sizeable portion of this balance to secure it and have it available in early 2019 for when we hopefully commence building.
Discussions with local and federal government representatives and candidates, to attempt to secure support continue. (Ed)
