I don't like to open the Post with something negative, however this is an important issue that I need to address. There are too few doing too much around the Club and this is unsustainable. It is making it really hard to be "can do".
More and more is being expected of the Executive Committee (as there are a lack of helpers) and it is affecting how the Club operates and reducing what the Club can and is able to offer.
Patrol attendances as an example thus far have been poor - plain and simple !
How can you help ? Primarily, the Executive are after a hand and we have a few General Committee members and non Committee members helping (a couple doing more than their share) and unless more people pitch in the Club will go backwards. If you can help, please pick up the phone of an area that interests you and I'm sure there is small way that you will be able to share the load. The ball is in your court.
Thanks to Paul Doman who had assisted on the Executive as Vice President (Marketing) - last Season and until recently, who gave notice of his resignation. I'm happy to announce that Natalie Cann has stepped into fill this casual vacancy until the AGM next year. Welcome aboard Nat and we trust that your experience at Telstra will bring some real and relevant experience and add to this area and to the Club in general.
Our long standing Vice President (Y&LD) Bim (Justine Kiely-Scott) has signalled that this Season will be her last as the head of the large and very successful Nipper program. Bim is on the lookout for a replacement with no luck so far, so here is a far and wide appeal ! IF you may be keen please give Bim a call to discuss the role and how you could 'shadow' her this Summer to learn the ropes first hand. Also, there IS still a need for Nipper instructors, so please the Nipper team know if you can help.
The Building Committee has had some great results recently and making real progress as we move towards planning approval with the Borough. Over the peak period some 'member information sessions' will be run to walk you through the concept and I'm confident that you'll be impressed and excited by what is proposed.
A reminder that Requals (Skills Maintenance) have recommenced for our Active members and more information and dates are on the website, BUT opportunities are running out. The Training and Assessment team (with the recent support of some EC members) is putting the final touches to the Cadet and Bronze Camps, which are about to commence.
Another reminder - Online entries for the RVSC have opened and we would appreciate you letting friends, family and colleagues know to boost the numbers and boost our profits. This is the largest single fundraising effort, so we we need to make it count. The long swim (3.8km) is already half full, so if you know of someone who is keen to swim the long one, then they better register soon.
Finally, the "pop up" is back for this Summer in a revised and improved format. So, keep an eye out on social media primarily for details of this year's selection which will be very well received - starting Boxing Day.
