It was a bit over 5 weeks ago that the last 'President's Post' was issued and wow, what a lot has happened during that time ! As we know, the summer holiday period is our busiest and most demanding time. At the end of the recent January Committee meeting I thanked all present for their wonderful efforts and remarked that I have had so many positive comments about the Club and the activities undertaken during this period - that it was a real credit to them and to all involved for making it such a successful peak summer period.

I am reluctant to single out individuals for their contribution in this forum as it is so easy to leave people out, so instead here is a list of the achievements, activities and events that a huge number of volunteers have assisted with during our peak period:

    70th Anniversary sub committee meetings.
    Annual Doorknock (incl. Ferry collections).
    Aquatic Sports Carnivals.
Aquatic Sports Masterclass Day (inaugural program).
Australia Day Award (Nippers in School program).
    Club Championships / Bernie Cook.
    Committee Meeting.
    Glaneuse Bar operations.
LERT (RWC patrols, 2 callouts and Queenscliff swim water safety).
    Merchandise collection days.
New Clubhouse information sessions (9 sessions).
Nippers (incl 50th year celebration, DISCO, Presentation Night, etc).
    Nipper Instructor Training session.
Patrols (incl all Cadet and Bronze day).
    Pink Zinc Patrol.
Pop Up (2nd year - with a revised format).
    Property cleaning and maintenance.
Rip View Swim Classic. Skills Maintenance (Requals).
Too old for Toga (incl Raffle).
Training and Assessment (Spinal Management course and planning for Adult Bronze etc.).
Water Safety assistance at Ocean Grove SLSC inaugural open water swim.
Thanks to Deb, Donna, Jay and Ed for your work over this period.

Patrols - not just a January thing !

    Active Member reminder :
Summer school holidays might be over, you may be back at school, have school sport, homework, a part time job or Uni commitments, but you have a Club Patrol obligation too !
Visit the club members area in the first instance for more info : (Phone your friend, Patrol Captain or Office if you've forgotten username / password.
Chat with your Patrol Captain if need be.

Patrol Captains - do you have all core awards covered ? Expect to hear from the Club Captain or Vice Captains to confirm you have core awards covered.

    Patrol defaults are not acceptable.

Glaneuse Bar to open over Labour Day long weekend and Easter

We plan to open up the Glenuse Bar from 5pm, on the Saturday and Sunday evenings of the Labour Day long weekend and Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday.

To make these nights more interesting, I'm keen to hear from people or areas that would like to run a social theme night on one of the nights. It does not need to be something huge and involve a lot of work. Maybe to raise some funds for your area ? It needs to fit into our noise policy and at least 'break even'. Please email Matt -

70th Anniversary celebrations - save the date !

Don't forget to keep Saturday 4th November AND Sunday 5th November 2017 free for celebrations at Point Lonsdale for our 70th anniversary. An event sub committee has been formed and is working away in the background. Queries to Sue Doman :
