Just over a week ago we held our Annual General Meeting and Annual Presentation Night at Life Saving Victoria - a long break from having these in Melbourne and the first time at the new LSV headquarters. Numbers were somewhat disappointing considering we moved it to Melbourne to try and increase our numbers and after requests from Melbourne based members.
At the AGM all positions were spilled (apart from VP Lifesaving & VP Aquatic Sports) and we thanked and farewelled committee members not re-standing and particular thanks to Justine (Bim) Kiely-Scott for her 6 seasons of service at VP Y&LD, Ivan St Clair 2 seasons as Treasurer and Jo Burch 2 seasons as Club Captain.
Although all Executive Committee (EC) positions were filled, I am on the lookout for a Treasurer to replace this role I'm currently covering.
Disappointingly there are again many General Committee vacancies and the EC members can not do it alone. Without more helpers we simply cannot provide all services and activities and what we provide will be at times less than ideal, so put your hand up and help out please.
The venue for Presentation Night was excellent, with plenty of great food (no one should have gone home hungry), great service from the LSV team and nighttime skyline views of the city.
Big thanks to Steve, Rick, Nat and Deb who helped to make the event a success.
Congratulations to all award winners (see attachment link below) with special mention to Mandy Grbac who received the prestigious KD Allen Trophy for Vigilance and Service, Huw Joyce who was awarded Club Person of the Year, Skye Orloff the Rob Anderson Foundation Award, Ken (Gully) Fraser was present for his 40 year SLSA Long Service Award and James Coutie for several varied awards.
We hope to have membership renewals for Season 17 / 18 out in about 2 weeks (including updated information on the website to assist with the online process).
Following on from State Government changes, the Working with Children Check (WWCC) will be a compulsory requirement for membership, so if you don't have one, or need to update it, please visit our WWCC page on the website for more information.
Our various office bearers are settling in and will get on with planning for the coming peak summer period with some planning well developed - eg Nipper Calendar, Cadet & Bronze Camp dates and online EOI process.
